It was with great sadness that we learned last week that Sue Lloyd-Roberts had passed away.

While Sue will quite rightly be remembered by most as a courageous and brilliant investigative reporter with the BBC, she is also known to us all at Inntravel as the owner – along with Nick, her husband – of the beautiful and utterly charming Ca’n Reus, the first hotel on our walking holiday amid the Mountains and Villages of Mallorca.

Sue was never anything other than a true delight to work with, and when we heard about her facing an acute form of leukaemia, we did what we could to help in her campaign to find more stem cell donors.

Despite the tragic outcome for her, and this devastating news, many others will continue to be helped because of her bravery and openness, so this is just one more positive aspect of what will undoubtedly be a long-lasting and remarkable legacy. This obituary on the Guardian website provides an excellent insight into Sue’s remarkable life and career, including some video clips from some of her fine reporting.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Sue’s family and close friends during this sad and difficult time.
