New walking holidays introduced for 2016 (31 December 2015)

Our new walking holidays appeal to a variety of tastes. There's coastal walking on the Greek island of Cephalonia, or great mountain routes between the Eiger and Matterhorn and in Umbria in central Italy. Wine lovers and foodies, meanwhile, will like our holidays in Alsace and the Black Forest. Last but not least, we have another new holiday in the Harz Mountains, the spiritual heart of Germany.

2016 cycling brochure features two new holidays (30 December 2015)

In Italy, embark on a gentle exploration of the quiet side of Tuscany or, in Germany, circumnavigate the intriguing island of Rügen. As well as these two new additions, we are pleased to introduce a holiday in north-east France combining walking and cycling amid the fairy-tale scenery of Alsace.

October's photo of the month (12 November 2015)

Our last photo of the month for 2015 was this shot entitled "To be a Bird". Now that the competition has closed, our panel of judges has the unenviable task of choosing an overall winner. With such a high standard of entries, it will no doubt be a tough decision...

September's photo of the month (14 October 2015)

It was this evocative image of a fisherman on a lake in Guatamala by Gavin Burnett that caught the eye of our September judge. As in previous months, this photo, plus the three runners up, will go through to the grand final. The competition runs until the end of October, so if you wish to enter, time is running out!

August's photo of the month (04 September 2015)

This month's Slow Moments photography competition was judged by Joni Essex (co-owner/director of the Joe Cornish Gallery in Northallerton), who selected Pamela Crawford's charming shot of a young Tibetan girl totally absorbed in making a poppy-chain. Pamela is our fifth monthly winner and will be entered into the grand final later this year.

July's photo of the month (14 August 2015)

This month's Slow Moments photography competition was judged by art photographer Linda Lashford, who selected Jody Holyoake's atmospheric depiction of a man 'Deep in Thought' in front of a Christmas merry-go-round in London's Leicester Square. Jody is the fourth monthly winner in our competition.

June's photo of the month (15 July 2015)

Selected by freelance photographer Val Corbett, the third monthly winner in our Slow Moments photography competition is Gregory Goldston, who took this eye-catching photo of a pony on Porlock Hill at sunrise one winter's morning.

New holidays in the snow this winter (09 July 2015)

To enjoy a wide range of activities in the snow, look at our 'Snow' holidays for 2015-2016. New in Norway, discover historic Trondheim and Røros, or explore frozen canyons near Hindsæter. In Finland, join a special week for experienced cross-country skiers; or, if you are yet to try a winter snow holiday, our 'taster' breaks in Pertisau, Kandersteg and Blitzingen in the Alps – on which you can try your hand at a whole host of activities – may be just the thing for you.

Two new walking holidays launched for autumn/winter (25 June 2015)

We are delighted to introduce two new walking holidays for autumn, winter and spring 2015/2016. In Portugal, a gentle route takes you from coast to coast in tranquil westernmost Algarve. On Tenerife, a more demanding, but thoroughly rewarding, route leads to the incredible crater of El Teide, Spain's highest peak. At the same time, we have improved our existing centred walking holiday on Tenerife to give a better feel for the northern part of the island. We've also made changes to our hotel-to-hotel walk on Madeira, so that it serves as an even better introduction to this remarkable ‘floating garden’.

May's photo of the month (15 June 2015)

We received some excellent entries to our Slow Moments photography competition in May, so much so that our judge, accomplished photographer Paul Harris, named not one, but three, runners-up this time around. The winner of the £200 Inntravel voucher was Shuo Huang, whose photo (left) captures local fishermen making their way home at sunset in Myanmar.

Inntravel shortlisted for Food & Travel Awards 2015 (13 May 2015)

We are pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for this year's Food & Travel Magazine Awards in the 'Tour Operator of the Year' category. The organisers have been delighted with readers' growing engagement with the awards, having seen a large increase on last year's nominations. You now have until 1 September to vote, with the winners being announced two weeks later. Click here to vote >

The first winner in our Slow Moments competition is announced (11 May 2015)

We are pleased to announce April's Photo of the Month (pictured left). The judge who had the difficult task of picking a winner from the scores of entries that we received following the launch of our Slow Moments competition was Jo Rose of the Joe Cornish Gallery. As well as receiving a £200 Inntravel voucher, winner Gaz Williams, who took the photo one misty morning in Windsor, will be entered into the grand final at the end of the year.

2015 photography competition announced (16 March 2015)

We are now accepting entries for our Slow Moments Competition. Between April and October the Photo of the Month will win a £200 Inntravel voucher, and all seven monthly winners (along with any exceptional runners-up) will be entered into the final to win a photographic assignment on which they'll embark on our Grand Tour of Switzerland journey. To enter, send us your photo of a Slow Moment accompanied by up to 40 words.

New family activity holidays introduced (28 January 2015)

We are pleased to introduce three new holidays for families: a cycling holiday in the Loire, featuring gentle routes and the chance to visit castles and much more; a holiday in the Austrian Tyrol, which you can explore on foot and by bike from two high-quality hotels with pools; and a fascinating holiday to Morocco, combining exotic Marrakesh and the foothills of the Atlas, where you can enjoy guided walks with a mule, and gain hands-on experience of life in a Berber village for a day.

Five new walking holidays launched for 2015 (03 December 2014)

In our 30th anniversary year, it is fitting that we are going back to our roots by introducing a new walk in the Cerdanya, the same corner of the eastern Pyrenees where we launched our first ever walking holiday. Thrilling mountain hiking is a theme that continues in our two new walking holidays in northern Italy: The High Alpine Way and The Dolomites’ Three Peaks. There’s easier walking on offer too, in both Ibiza, where our holiday reveals the island’s hidden charms, and Germany’s Moselle Valley, steeped in history and the traditions of wine-making. Last but by no means least is a rail journey linking Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden, with detailed walking notes to guide you round the many cultural treasures on foot.

New gastronomic walking break in Yorkshire! (11 July 2014)

To celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, we have just launched a special Yorkshire Gastronomic Celebration - a new walking break in our North Yorkshire heartland that features the very best scenery, cuisine, food producers and stylish hotels that the area has to offer.

New walking holidays introduced in Gozo and Fuerteventura (25 June 2014)

Two completely new destinations feature in our selection of winter walking holidays this year: Gozo, an unhurried island with a beguiling coastline, and Fuerteventura, the oldest of the Canary Islands, characterised by desert-like landscapes of burnt amber dotted with traditional windmills. A third new holiday explores the cities of Segovia, Salamanca and Madrid by rail, taking you back in time to Spain’s Golden Age.

New walking holiday in Nepal (17 January 2014)

We are pleased to introduce our new walking holiday amid the foothills of the world's highest mountains, Nepal – Himalayan Panoramas. Created in conjunction with Village Ways, this is not trekking, but a privately guided, non-group, village to village walking holiday amid the spectacular and often humbling, mountain landscapes of the Sailung Valley east of Kathmandu. Here, away from the tourist trail, you gain privileged access to the customs, traditions and ways of life of this most welcoming of people, as you stay in authentic guesthouses built, managed and run by them – a pioneering village tourism enterprise.

Inntravel ranked second in Which?'s survey of holiday companies (10 January 2014)

Which?’s 2013 survey of holiday companies has been published, and Inntravel has been ranked second in the list of holiday companies, with an impressive customer score of 89% ensuring we maintained this position for a second year in a row. We were in the top-but-one spot amongst over 40 familiar holiday companies and achieved Which? Recommended Provider status. Naturally, we are delighted to rank so highly in such a widely respected survey, but we can assure you that we won’t be resting on our laurels, and will continue to work hard on providing the best possible holidays and delivering the highest standards of customer service.

New walking holiday in the Faroe Islands introduced (12 December 2013)

Among the new additions to our Walking & More brochure is a walking holiday in the Faroe Islands which promises awe-inspiring scenery of layer-cake mountains and sheer sea cliffs teeming with birds. Elsewhere, you can choose to walk along the westernmost section of Turkey’s long-distance Lycian Way; to follow the ancient Via Spluga through the mountains from Switzerland into Italy, finishing on Lake Como; to explore a tranquil corner of South Tyrol in northernmost Italy; or to meander along smugglers’ trails in a seemingly forgotten corner of the Alentejo near the Portuguese-Spanish border.

Three new cycling holidays introduced (12 December 2013)

We are pleased to introduce three new cycling holidays for 2014. In southern France, you can explore both quintessential Provençal landscapes and a unique wetland area on our Impressions of the Camargue holiday. In Italy, choose between a discovery of Puglia, the region which forms the country’s ‘heel’ and which is full of cultural treasures, or a holiday in the South Tyrol, at the other end of the country, where you can cycle along easy trails against a magnificent mountain backdrop.

Inntravel named in top 3 at Telegraph Travel Awards (28 November 2013)

We were delighted to be named joint runner-up in the 'Best Tour Operator' category at the Telegraph Travel Awards 2013. This, along with being named Best Short Break Operator at the Guardian & Observer Travel Awards 2013 and being ranked second in Which?'s 2013 survey of holiday companies, is a great endorsement of our holidays, not least because all three accolades are based on public votes. We can assure you that we won't be resting on our laurels, and will continue to work hard on providing the best possible holidays and delivering the highest standards of customer service.

Inntravel named Best Short Breaks Operator (12 November 2013)

We were thrilled to be named Best Short Breaks Operator in the 2013 Guardian and Observer Travel Awards, which are decided by readers. Many thanks to everyone who voted for us.

Inntravel website given a new look (09 October 2013)

We hope you like the new look and the improved menus that help you navigate around the site more easily. We have also introduced a shortlist facility so that you can keep track of the holidays you are interested in as you browse the site and narrow down your choices. There is a brand new travel choices section, too, which focuses on rail travel in particular: why taking the train is such a great alternative to flying or driving and what to expect on the journey.

Inntravel Sponsors Berwick Festival’s Short Film Award (22 August 2013)

This year's Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival takes place on 25–29 September. Inntravel is delighted to be sponsoring the Short Film category. Now in its 9th year, the festival is an international celebration of the art of film and for the five days, the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed will be transformed into one big cinema screen with film premieres, site-specific installations and live events in locations across the town and along its historic ramparts.

The Inntravel Riverside Walk (09 August 2013)

In the true spirit of Inntravel, we are encouraging people to discover the joys of the lesser-known path by helping our friends at Durham County Cricket Club create a unique riverside walk during the 4th Ashes Test Match in Chester-le-Street. We've already retained the Ashes, so visitors can relax and enjoy the day by following 'The Inntravel Riverside Walk' to an exciting new picnic area by the River Wear - with the Yorkshire Tea band, boxing kangaroos, 'Kwik Cricket' and games galore...

Our inspiration page just got better (11 March 2013)

To make it easier for you to find ideas for your next holiday, we have expanded the Inspiration section of our website. You can now browse by month – where you will find suggestions such as catching the almond blossom in Spain, music festivals in Italy, the Midnight Sun in Norway, carnival time in Madeira, or the grape harvest in Europe’s vineyard regions – or by theme, be it castles, wildlife, art, food, wine and more, so why not take a look?
