October's photo of the month (09 November 2016)

October's winning photo, entitled 'Vintage Hills', is Gary Clarke's atmospheric image taken during the annual Flying Scotsman rally. Now that our 2016 Slow Moments Competition has closed, the overall winner, who will enjoy a holiday-cum-photographic-assignment to Germany's Black Forest, will be announced in early January.

September's photo of the month (13 October 2016)

September's Photo of the Month is Paul Wynn's amusing image of a hippo snoozing in the river, totally oblivious to the oxpecker on his head. The competition runs until the end of the month (the closing date is 31 October 2016), so if you are planning to enter, you'd better do so quickly!

August's photo of the month (12 September 2016)

So hard was it for Catherine E Inglis, the Yorkshire-based artist tasked with picking a winner for August, to choose a favourite, that there are three runners-up. Two of the top four images focused on wildlife, with the winner being this well-composed photo of a whale's tail disappearing back into the ocean off the coast of Iceland. If you have an evocative image, there are still a few weeks left to enter.

July's photo of the month (11 August 2016)

The image which caught our judge's eye in July's competition was this evocative photograph of a lone fisherman at dusk in Botswana's Okavango Delta. Anne Frigon, who receives an Inntravel voucher for her winning picture, remembers the moment clearly: "As the setting sun spread flaming colours across the horizon, a full moon shone ever brighter in the darkening sky. Gliding through the reedy lagoons in a mokoro, I hoped the poler in front was also enjoying the peace and tranquillity.”

Three Norwegian holidays introduced for winter 2016/17 (14 July 2016)

For this coming winter, we are pleased to introduce three new holidays to Norway: a welcoming hotel from whose door beginners and intermediates can enjoy cross-country skiing on a plateau overlooking the Rondane National Park; breaks to the island of Senja, where you may spot whales and the Northern Lights; and a thrilling journey between three Arctic islands on the Hurtigruten coastal steamer.

June's photo of the month (12 July 2016)

“A splendid illustration of how when we stop and stare the world eventually reveals its full magic.“ That’s what our judge this month, Carl HonorĂ©, author of In Praise of Slow, said of June’s Photo of the Month, which was taken in Sussex by James LePage. The competition continues until October, so why not enter?

New walking holiday on Dominica introduced (07 July 2016)

With its lush rainforests and magnificent waterfalls, the small Caribbean island of Dominica makes a wonderful new addition to our selection of walking holidays for autumn, winter and spring, as does our rewarding hotel-to-hotel walking holiday through the volcanic landscapes of La Palma in the Canary Islands.

May's photo of the month (15 June 2016)

For the first time in our competition, it was a picture of a dog which won Photo of the Month – our judge was drawn by its inquisitive expression. Christine Roe, who has been a runner-up in the past, wins an Inntravel voucher and could win a walking holiday in the Black Forest in the grand final. How to enter >

April's photo of the month (16 May 2016)

Our judge's favourite photo in April's competition was this atmospheric picture of dark clouds gathered above the Howgills in Yorkshire. Our congratulations go to Alex Johnson, who wins a £200 Inntravel voucher and will be entered into the grand final later in the year. How to enter >

SlowMotion: a new brochure for the new year (02 January 2016)

We are delighted to introduce SlowMotion, a new collection of adventures amid the most beautiful corners of Europe and Morocco. They share many of the hallmarks of our other holidays – you travel independently, staying in hand-picked accommodation of character while using our detailed notes to explore and get to know the area – but you journey from one enchanting location to the next by train, boat and/or car for a very relaxing and memorable holiday.

New walking holidays introduced for 2016 (31 December 2015)

Our new walking holidays appeal to a variety of tastes. There's coastal walking on the Greek island of Cephalonia, or great mountain routes between the Eiger and Matterhorn and in Umbria in central Italy. Wine lovers and foodies, meanwhile, will like our holidays in Alsace and the Black Forest. Last but not least, we have another new holiday in the Harz Mountains, the spiritual heart of Germany.

2016 cycling brochure features two new holidays (30 December 2015)

In Italy, embark on a gentle exploration of the quiet side of Tuscany or, in Germany, circumnavigate the intriguing island of RĂ¼gen. As well as these two new additions, we are pleased to introduce a holiday in north-east France combining walking and cycling amid the fairy-tale scenery of Alsace.

Inntravel ranked second in Which?'s survey of holiday companies (10 January 2014)

Which?’s 2013 survey of holiday companies has been published, and Inntravel has been ranked second in the list of holiday companies, with an impressive customer score of 89% ensuring we maintained this position for a second year in a row. We were in the top-but-one spot amongst over 40 familiar holiday companies and achieved Which? Recommended Provider status. Naturally, we are delighted to rank so highly in such a widely respected survey, but we can assure you that we won’t be resting on our laurels, and will continue to work hard on providing the best possible holidays and delivering the highest standards of customer service.

Inntravel named in top 3 at Telegraph Travel Awards (28 November 2013)

We were delighted to be named joint runner-up in the 'Best Tour Operator' category at the Telegraph Travel Awards 2013. This, along with being named Best Short Break Operator at the Guardian & Observer Travel Awards 2013 and being ranked second in Which?'s 2013 survey of holiday companies, is a great endorsement of our holidays, not least because all three accolades are based on public votes. We can assure you that we won't be resting on our laurels, and will continue to work hard on providing the best possible holidays and delivering the highest standards of customer service.

Inntravel website given a new look (09 October 2013)

We hope you like the new look and the improved menus that help you navigate around the site more easily. We have also introduced a shortlist facility so that you can keep track of the holidays you are interested in as you browse the site and narrow down your choices. There is a brand new travel choices section, too, which focuses on rail travel in particular: why taking the train is such a great alternative to flying or driving and what to expect on the journey.

Our inspiration page just got better (11 March 2013)

To make it easier for you to find ideas for your next holiday, we have expanded the Inspiration section of our website. You can now browse by month – where you will find suggestions such as catching the almond blossom in Spain, music festivals in Italy, the Midnight Sun in Norway, carnival time in Madeira, or the grape harvest in Europe’s vineyard regions – or by theme, be it castles, wildlife, art, food, wine and more, so why not take a look?
