From the Fjells to the Fjords

Oslo, Finse, Flåm & Bergen
Dinner is included at the comfortable hotels in Finse and Flåm, while your stays in Oslo and Bergen are on a bed-and-breakfast basis so that you can take your pick of the cities’ restaurants.

Hotel Bristol, Oslo

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel Bristol
This elegant hotel exudes an air of calm opulence, and there is a feeling of Edwardian gentility about the reception and lounge areas. The well-equipped bedrooms are furnished in a classical style, with solid wood furniture, while the extensive buffet breakfast – the highlight of your stay – sets you up well for a day’s exploration. The main sights are all within easy walking distance.

Finse 1222, Finse

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Finse 1222
Taking inspiration for its name from the village’s altitude, the welcoming Finse 1222 first opened its doors in 1909 to coincide with the arrival of the railway, and still retains much of its historic charm. The bedrooms are simple but comfortable, complemented by an excellent restaurant serving set three-course dinners of fresh, locally sourced produce (no mean feat in this isolated hamlet!) and an attractive lounge whose picture windows overlook the lake.

Fretheim Hotel, Flåm

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Fretheim Hotel
Retaining many of the original features of the early 20th-century building, this elegant hotel overlooks the water. There is a restaurant, wine-cellar and bar, and also an exercise room and several places where you can relax, not least a panoramic lounge in the hotel’s modern, glass-fronted wing.

Clarion Hotel Admiral, Bergen

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Clarion Hotel Admiral
Situated right on the water’s edge overlooking the Bryggen, this hotel is housed in a historic warehouse dating from 1904 and is within easy walking distance of all the main sites in this fjordside city. The modern twin or double bedrooms are decorated in warm colours and should you wish to have a view over the water, you can upgrade to a superior or deluxe room. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant overlooking the Bryggen and in warm weather you can even eat out on the terrace over the water.
