We were so lucky with the Northern Lights trip - we had the most wonderful display. Dan's enthusiasm for the phenomena and sharing of his photographs was much appreciated. We knew that they were not guaranteed, but we had a splendid experience. Dan described it as an 8/10 display (and that he has never seen a 10/10 one!). We also enjoyed the Brim explorer Arctic Fjord Cruise and think it would be worth recommending to other cusotmers. The commentary is in English and has a very well balanced programme to keep the interest throughout the cruise.
The Inntravel guide notes on Tromso were useful and informative (excellent restaurant recommendations!).
Our Northern Lights tour guide, Dan was superb.
Booking other tours, in our case dog sledding was easy.
Try Elias Restaurant if you're staying at the Hotel Bristol - 2 minutes round the corner and lovely food. Don't underestimate how cold it will be, especially when you chase the lights, and Dan will do his absolute best to get you to see them....we appreciated his efforts, really great, knowledgeable man. It's just very cold everywhere!

Despite the travel delays and room confusion at the hotel we had a great time. The hotel is in a good location on the harbour side and, although booking is advertised as breakfast only there was afternoon tea/coffee and cake, and food in the evening that included soup, salads and a hot selection of a meat dish with either pasta rice or potatoes. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day.
The included Northern Lights excursion was excellent. Dan, the guide for this, is a real enthusiast for the Lights and took us to a great location. He also helped guests with setting up their cameras to get the best photographs and, the next day, sent through the ones he took on the night.
Booking an extra day allowed us to add cross country skiing and a huskey sled driving trip as well as a tour round the town, plus a visit to the Arctic Cathedral and a cable car ride to the top of hill on the other side of the channel.
Managed to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancé!) whilst hunting for the Northern Lights, so it was a trip to remember! Would highly recommend the Hunting the Lights excursion with Dan - he was super friendly and very knowledgeable. We also did a Reindeer feeding and Sami culture experience as well as a husky dog sledding experience - both of which would highly recommend. Thanks to Inntravel for making the experience as smooth as possible!
Beautiful country
Dan, the chap you use for the Northern Lights trip was great. Kvaloya Huskies would be our recommended outfit for that activity and I really would highlight the half day trip around the fjords, islands and coastline with Northern Soul. I think both they and the husky people would be good to feature in your literature.
We really liked Tromso. It was good to have the local info and walking tour and we did explore well. The cable car up to the peak was great to do and we walked on up the snowy hill for a great view of Tromso. We enjoyed the Polar museum and learning all about the Fram expedition. We added on Oslo, and so it was great to visit the Fram museum once we were there and to see and explore the Fram itself. The 24 hour city pass is a fantastic way of exploring all Oslo has to offer with free public transport - just board the trams and buses and be ready to show the pass - and free access to many venues including the Munch museum and the National Museum.
The harbour view was well worth paying extra for. The free evening meal at the hotel was also an unusually good extra. A highlight of our trip was a Reindeer Feeding excursion we organized ourselves with Tromso Lapland. It included a talk my a Saami guide that was very, very interesting. We also had a lovely meal at Mathallen. The guide (Dan) for the northern lights was an incredibly positive person, and an excellent guide. Travellers should be aware that the northern lights tour can mean a very long drive in both directions (for us it was 3-3.5 hours in each direction) and no toilets except the great outdoors.
This was a seamless travel experience, the flights were on time and well planned. We loved the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The best was the Northern Lights trip, which was magical and well organised.
What a fantastic holiday - we were especially lucky to see the lights. We were glad we booked the extra day in Tromso as we had time to go dog sledding.
We really enjoyed our trip to Tromso. The hotel was great, and we hadn't expected the complimentary "light supper" to be quite so good. The highlight was the trip out to see the Northern Lights with Dan. He's so friendly, a mine of local information and seeing the aurora was an amazing experience. We also took a boat trip to Skervøy and saw orca and humpback whales. Would highly recommend Tromso for a fantastic short break.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Northern Lights tour. The other excursions we booked were excellent too (Snowmobile, Snow shoe walk and Dog Sledding). The snack/lunches provided on the excursions and the complimentary evening buffet at the hotel, really helped us with our budget. As did the Oslo visit card. The weather was good for us, sunny, but still bitterly cold. We saw others, despite the information saying to dress warmly, a little under dressed. I can only think that being cold, takes away from the enjoyment. The accommodation was excellent in both Tromso and Oslo.

We were expecting the trip to be good but it abundantly exceeded all our expectations both for myself, my husband and our 15 year old son. Tromso is a lively, scenic, interesting and exciting city in the most dramatically beautiful setting. The hotel was warm, comfortable, friendly and in a great location at the harbour. The included supper was good and filling with hot drinks freely available. The airport is very close, so with three of us, we took a taxi instead of the bus. The Northern Lights tour with Dan was outstanding and I don’t know if we would have seen as much of the lights as we did, had we taken a tour with anyone else. Dan is passionate and very knowledgeable about the northern lights. We even spotted moose on the way home from the tour. We benefited from staying an additional night and enjoyed husky sledding and a scenic day tour to beautiful Sommeroy (Pukka Travels) where we spotted sea eagles and saw reindeer. We also enjoyed taking the cable car to the mountain above the city and my son hiked to the top and took lots of photos of the mountain ranges beyond. The polar museum near the hotel is also well worth a visit.
I can't recommend Inntravel enough for a trip to Norway to see the northern lights. We had a trip fail due to unforeseen circumstances and it was sorted before we woke up the following day.
