A wonderful holiday. We were snowed up in Finse for three nights, should have been there for only one! Inntravel sorted out the extra nights for us very efficiently and checked on the day we left that all was now back on schedule. We were even texted to tell us that the bus to Voss was leaving 10 minutes earlier than expected. If you book the trip to the view point at Flam the Tourist Office, next to the station, will look after your luggage for you. If you prefer, the Tourist Office at Bergen will change your 24 hour City card to a real card rather than an electronic one; in Bergen as well as the museums do go up the funicular. The Flam railway was all we had expected, an amazing journey. All in all another good Inntravel holiday. A hotel highlight was breakfast at the Hotel Bristol.
This was our third Inntravel self-guided holiday since last October. The first two, in Cyprus and Spain, were excellent. However, this trip was an exceptional experience and utterly exceeded our expectations. Everything about it worked incredibly smoothly bearing in mind that there was much more snow than we imagined, but this was no problem for the Norwegians and so consequently for us. We would recommend booking a second night in Oslo. We spent the extra day on Bygdoy 'island' where we visited the Fram Polar Museum and the openair Folk Museum, both of which were full of interest.
All the train journeys were spectacular because of the snowy landscapes. The remoteness and history of the Finse 1222 Hotel made it a very special place and was definitely our major highlight. We arrived in a blizzard but the full day there was spent with blue skies and brilliant sunshine. We didn't feel the need to do any activities. Simply walking up and down the station platform by the hotel and absorbing the scenery and atmosphere of this very special place was enough. At Flam, we did book two activities and highly recommend both - snowshoeing and the fjord safari. The ferry between Flam and Gudvangen was a truly magical journey. The weather was fine and calm and, as a result, produced stunning reflections in the water of the mountains and villages. The Bergen walk notes provided were easy to follow and took us into parts of the city we would otherwise not have investigated. Two museums which illustrate the history of Bergen are well worth a visit - the Bryggen Museum and the Hanseatic Museum.
We booked this trip to have a truly snowy winter experience and were never disappointed. Thank you very much!
This was an ambitious holiday and a significant investment for us comprising five locations over 10 days stretching from Oslo on the east coast of Norway to Bergen on the west and back again. With so many working parts and remaining pandemic restrictions to manage, the calm and thorough approach of all members of Inntravel was a great reassurance. We were given helpful and timely updates and provided with any extras (such as additional luggage tags) as needed. The very comprehensive holiday pack met all our travel needs so that all our journeys ran entirely smoothly and it also provided useful local information and ideas.
Some of our highlights were the Flam railway, aided by the map provided so we knew what we were looking at, the stark beauty of Finse cushioned by the hotel's comfort and delicious meals and the majesty of the fjords. I recommend a RIB trip up the fjords at Flam and the aqaurium and sea swimming at Bergen.
I should also like to mention that the service at all the hotels was excellent, staff drop into English without hesitation and they seemed genuinely delighted to be of help with train times, restaurant recommendations and bookings, finding mobile scales to check luggage weights and anything else we asked of them!

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We booked at short notice and it was nevertheless impeccably organised and we had no trouble using all the different forms of transport that this holiday used. Each of the locations had its own magic. The Finse hotel was a particular highlight. It is in a very remote location and because of its height above sea level it can have wild weather. While we were there, there was a blizzard for most of the first 24 hours which meant we sat and read in the very comfortable lounges watching the snow build up on the windows. When the wind finally dropped we went snow shoeing round the frozen lake which was great fun. The train ride from Myrdal to Flam was spectacular. We found Bergen enchanting, probably helped by the fact that it snowed heavily while we were there. The self guided tour provided by Inntravel was excellent. We chose to begin our holiday on a Monday which meant that our full day in Bergen was also a Monday and it's probably worth being aware that most museums are closed on Mondays in Norway. We had an amazing time and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this holiday.
