This Holiday in a nutshell
  • superb 3-star hotel in exquisite village
  • excellent cross-country skiing for all abilities
  • close to St Moritz
  • serene valley

Sunny, broad and long, eastern Switzerland’s Engadine Valley is one of the most idyllic and traditional regions of Europe, with an enviable snow record from December through to April and a string of historic, stone-built villages running along the valley, from Scuol in the east to fashionable St Moritz and atmospheric Sils, one of the most charming of them all, in the west.

The hotel’s blend of tradition, design and friendly service puts a stay here in a league of its own. Sils and its lakes are close to St Moritz, but few very few people know of them. That’s no bad thing, as it means that instead of glitz, there’s a real sense of history – you feel as though you’re stepping back in time every time you head out to the cross-country and winter walking trails.

Rebecca Bruce, Inntravel snow holiday expert

Sils sits serenely between two lakes, whose shores – and even the frozen lakes themselves – are a paradise for cross-country skiers and winter walkers alike. The backdrop of rugged mountains is softened by the cosy welcome to be found in the traditional painted stone buildings of Sils. Add to this a stylish 3-star hotel offering the highest standards of comfort and hospitality, and you have all the ingredients for a wonderful winter holiday.
