We've had several holidays with Inntravel and this holiday did not disappoint. The hotel was wonderful. I really don't know where to start. The dining experience was beyond excellent. Fantastic food and marvellous service. Breakfast was a joy, the mid-afternoon light meal was marvellous and the evening meal, as I've said, out of this world. The choice of food and drink was outstanding. The walks were well marked and the maps supplied were great. Fortunately we had excellent weather with blue skies and a lovely snowy scenery. We made up our own walks from the maps and this usually entailed walking to a mountain hut/cafe/restaurant. One tip: please check with the hotel when these huts are open as some close on Monday (Ruhetag) or Tuesday. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday and as this was our second trip to this hotel and the area, we'd go back again in an instant.
Innsbruck buses are excellent. You can go from one ski/mountain area to the other on a J bus which is frequent.
In Weidach the village is quiet with no real centre but the walking and bus transport is outstanding.
The staff in the Hotel Kristall are excellent, very helpful and a nice level of quirky and engaging. An excellent base for walking and if you are a nordic skier it is a must destination with the track accessibility. The food and service was outstanding and the family who run it are hands on, ever present, attentive and committed to quality and the enjoyment of all their guests.
Beautiful skiing on easy trails along the river valley with fantastic views of the mountains. There is a variety of places to stop for lunch or coffee and strudel. The infinity pool and saunas really helped to relax our tired muscles and the excellent dinners and breakfast set us up for the next day. Hopefully we'll be back soon!

HIGHLIGHTS: the fresh snow when so little had fallen; trip to Innsbruck; finding Mundestadl tiny restaurant on a stroll by the kind information from a local
The smallest shop in Innsbruck does not exist. It changed to a cafe called Avocado cafe but is now completely closed.
Fabulous holiday snow shoeing in Austria. We were very lucky with the snow. Lovely holiday with helpful staff, particularly Carrie. The food was delicious. The rooms allocated are the unrefurbished rooms, but they were a good size, comfortable and with decent hot showers. The location was one of the best in the area for bus connections to the various trails. We will definitely go back and book with Inntravel again.
Hotel Kristal is well-located for walking and is newly renovated. We took the room upgrade and had a light, double aspect room with a sofa and coffee table. The food was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly, even though our German is almost non-existent. This was our second time at the hotel and we will be back again.
Liz and I had a wonderful time vacationing at Hotel Kristall. The trip was beyond our expectations. The Hotel, Food, Staff were all outstanding. We would definitely visit again.
Hotel Kristall is ideally positioned for access to the extensive cross country skiing areas, winter walks and buses up and down the valley.
The hotel is owned and staffed by warm and friendly people; many of whom speak very good English.
Excellent food every evening and particularly tasty light lunches. We made full use of the new infinity pool and sauna with their spectacular mountain views.
The infinity pool was nice and warm with a fantastic view and if you like saunas - you can enjoy a fantastic view when you are in there. The walking we did was mainly flat which was perfect for us as I had a recent hip replacement. However, if you want harder walking, there were many more paths going up the mountains. The hotel will lend you walking poles if you want. There is a Cafe called Polis Huute on the walk where we stopped and had a delicious hot chocolate or Gluhwein, sitting outside in the sunshine or you could have a simple lunch there too. The hotel does a music night and on another night Gluhwein outside with open fire places which was fun.
This was the first Inntravel holiday which we had been on for a second time, which shows how much we liked it the first time. This was even better. The wonderful winter scenery is on its own a major highlight. The well-prepared walking trails make it possible to enjoy it to the full. Weidach is a pretty and quiet village, away from the hustle and bustle of the downhill resorts. Perhaps the outstanding highlight is the wonderful Hotel Kristall and its staff, led by the lovely Daniel. It is even better since the renovation and we consider it to be one of the best and friendliest hotels that we have ever stayed in.
The walk to the Gaistal Alm is certainly well worthwhile with amazing scenery, especially with snow covered mountains and trees and a great venue for lunch. However beware of the scenic shortcut if it has not been recently prepared. The Moos - Buchen circuit was a very pleasant walk, again with an excellent lunch venue at the Ropferstun'm.
The hotel dinners were phenomenal.
One of the musical evenings at the Hotel Kristall comprised a quite brilliant 1 hour concert on the hotel terrace by talented 15-year-old accordionist Maximillian (a member of the Pfeffel family who own the hotel). Accompanied by log fires and warm mulled wine the moment was made perfect when snow started falling.
The 6 course evening meals (7 courses on two gala dinner evenings) were wonderful - a wide variety of dishes, wonderfully cooked, presented and served.
The whole holiday was brilliant so it's hard to list personal highlights. One thing we always pack is our own supply of English breakfast tea bags.
A lovely break with superb hotel and village. Cross country skiing excellent and lovely walking.
Excellent hotel with recently completed refurbishment. The roof top infinity pool with a temperature of 32C is amazing. Local bus service is very good indeed with Weidach Zentrum being no more than 10 minutes walk. This enables you to access local walking trails very easily. Free bus pass issued by hotel.
Daniel upgraded our room when he saw how tall I was! The hotel was very stylishly designed, homely and chic. The quality and presentation of all the meals was excellent. The panoramic sauna and rooftop pool were perfect after a day walking around the valleys, meadows, lakes and forests. We hope to return!
