New Year Break in Gozo

Malta's pretty sister
This Holiday in a nutshell
  • self-guided, single-centre walking holiday
  • gentle walking along clifftop paths & coastal tracks, route notes provided
  • visit nearby villages and discover a wealth of architectural treasures
  • sumptuous New Year’s Eve dinner
  • free bus pass for unlimited travel

Gozo is as unhurried an island as you can imagine, a bucolic place where old traditions are cherished and the pastoral way of life is rooted firmly in home, family and church. Myriad paths criss-cross the island’s terraced slopes which rise to narrow fingers of tableland, capped by Italianate churches and honey-coloured stone villages, and never far from the sea, the fertile farmland tumbles towards dramatic cliffs interspersed by idyllic bays.

The choice of hotel was a good one, as its location above the harbour enabled us to sit on our terrace with a view of Comino, watching the ferries and fishing boats coming and going across the channel to Malta.
'Casual Walker'

We suggest a number of walks for your stay on the island, some accessed using your free bus pass for the excellent local bus service. On New Year's Eve, the hotel hosts a Grand Banquet, befitting its name,  followed by live entertainment. On the other two nights, take your pick from a range of fine restaurants in the harbour.
