UK & Channel Islands walking holidays

One reason to choose an Inntravel walking holiday in the UK or Channel Islands is to see an area up close. Our diligently planned routes (explained in easy-to-read notes) are short enough that you don’t have to rush. And because you have no group and no luggage (we take care of that), you can make impromptu stops at churches, stately homes and castles. All of this, along with our accommodation of great charm, makes for a walking break that's worth it.
In most towns and villages we use small, welcoming guesthouses, cosy pubs and friendly B&Bs with just a few rooms each, and so we are unable to accommodate large parties. Sometimes we use country hotels that are somewhat larger, with more facilities and a higher standard of comfort, though the welcome and sense of intimacy is in no way diminished.

How our walking holidays in Britain are graded

None of our walking holidays in England, Scotland, Wales or the Channel Islands is particularly difficult – the emphasis of most is on relaxed exploration, such as in Northumberland and Norfolk. For fuller days of walking, our recommended destinations include the Lake District and Brecon Beacons. To be sure of choosing the UK walking holiday that is right for you, read how we grade them below.
  • Generally easy walking with few ascents / descents, but perhaps the occasional long day.
  • Easy-to-moderate walking with some ascents / descents, and occasional longer days.
  • Moderate walking on varied terrain, with some long days and regular ascents / descents.
  • Moderate-to-challenging walking on more rugged terrain with significant ascents / descents on most days. Compass skills may be required (check the individual holiday).
  • Challenging hikes, featuring long days with significant ascent / descent on challenging terrain. Compass skills may be required.
  • Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
