The Leutasch Valley

This was a great holiday - thank you for adding Leutasch to your portfolio. We were blessed with great weather on 4 1/2 days. We also teamed up with a "rooky" Inntravel threesome who were of similar ability and delightful company.

Spectacular scenery, a thoughtfully curated collection of routes with excellent accommodation. The possibility of swimming each day definitely added to our overall enjoyment and the prospect of coffee and cake eased the last few kilometres on a number of the walks.

Another fantastic trip arranged by Inntravel....the walks, food and experiences were excellent. We were blessed in September with amazing weather which allowed us to do all of the high walks recommended and they were superb. We also spent a morning in Innsbruck and took our own walk back to Mosern from Seefeld.....well worth a visit if you get the chance. We borrowed the free mountain bikes on our arrival at hotel Kristall which allowed us to orientate ourselves quickly. The food in all the hotels was great and the extras of afternoon cake, snacks were brilliant and worth trying if you are around. Inntravel arranged a train to Vienna for us and we arranged and booked our own hotel for my husbands birthday....we had an excellent time there too, if you get the chance to go while in the country. All of the staff at Inntravel were as helpful as ever.

The Leutasch Valley was a lower key trip than many, but very interesting in terms of the areas hiked in. The Violin Museum in Mittendorf was interesting.

The walking was fabulous and each walk was well choosen. The hotels were all different, but all were confortable and well equipped. The staff were unfailingly kind, helpful and pleasant. The food in InntalerHof and Hotel Kristal was exceptional and we ate far too much!  

Excellent hotels with the Inntaler Hof and Krystall particularly welcoming. Varied walking with plenty of superb viewpoints but a few long, tedious sections though thick forest with annoying e-bikes for company (especially Day 2). The climb to Scharnitzjoch is certainly worth it but we found the final part of the descent distinctly unpleasant. The lower part of the Leutasch Gorge (€4pp) is very atmospheric and should not be missed and Mittenwald is simply beautiful (consider catching the bus back from the bahnhof to improve your chance of getting a seat). The Wiesenhof (Pertisau extension) is another excellent hotel. The lakeside walk to Achenkirch is lovely (a well-engineered path) and the views from the Rofanspitze walk are stunning.

Excellent holiday. Tough but rewarding walks - worth the effort!!

Every day was different, every walk provided new challenges which made the whole experience positive and rewarding. The Hotel Innhalter was our favourite due the the spectacular views from the balcony, but all of the hotels were good. The instructions for walking were foolproof and we hardly ever used the map provided. We also had a GPS app which was useful for backup.

One of our best ever Inntravel holidays in terms of the quality of accommodation and the food (and we've done a fair few now!)

We enjoyed both The Leutasch Valley and Lake Achensee holidays despite my husband developing a hip problem on the first day of the holiday which made walking quite painful for him.  We still had a great time and were able to adapt the walks and use buses, boats, chair lifts and cable cars to shorten the routes.  I walked some sections of the routes on my own and felt completely safe and confident.  All the hotels were very good with plenty of choice on their menus and the food was lovely.  We particularly enjoyed the food at the Hotel Kristall and sat outside in the sunshine for a late lunch on both days choosing from a fantastic freshly made buffet which was included in the cost.  Each hotel has a swimming pool which was a real bonus and aid for bad hips.  The scenery was of course amazing and although we felt frustrated not to be able to do all the walks in the mountains on the route notes we were easily able to get about and enjoy the views.    

This is our fourth Inntravel holiday experience and it lived up to our expectations: excellent walking notes and great hotels.

In Salzburg we had a delicious meal at the small neighbourhood Italian 'Pasta und Vino' only a block down Wolf-DietrichStrasse from the hotel.

Walks were all excellent and well described in the notes and hotels were generally good. Recommend starting walks early in hot weather.

We chose to do the Leutasch Valley first followed by a week in Pertisau, Achensee. We used rail transfer between. We were not disappointed with our choices!

The Leutasch Valley week had some excellent walks, and we enjoyed the format of 'circular walk then transfer walk'. Favourite walks were the Day 4 High Route Via Scharnitzjoch. It was a shame that day was rainy. The views from Scharnitzjoch would have been spectacular. It was still atmospheric with the clouds. It was the only day I used walking poles. Day 5 Leutaschklamm (gorge) to Mittenwald was easy going and quite touristy in the gorge (you won’t need walking boots for this one – walking shoes would be fine). We had lunch in Mittenwald and caught the bus back (free with the guest pass - emailed from the hotel) but got off at Gasthaus Műhle (mill) and walked back by the river. The river walks were lovely. We also enjoyed the long transfer day on Day 6 Reindlau to Mösern, which had lovely, varied scenery. Tip: The downloadable maps proved very useful and saved time on the walks. It was hard to see the route in advance on the paper map without these. The instructions were good, however, should you want to use them. We enjoyed staying at each hotel. We used the pools in each hotel to relax after walking. Hotel Inntaler Hof had a large room with a super view of the valley and good service. The breakfast at Inntaler Hof gave the most choice at breakfast, but at dinner the second dessert option of sorbet was always smaller than the main option. Hotel Kristall was a modern hotel, and the room was smaller, but the staff were very friendly and the views from the roof top pool were lovely - the massage bubbles are great too. We enjoyed the singer in the bar on Tuesday night, which made for a relaxed evening. We weren't the only ones playing card games of an evening. Hotel Hubertushof had a drying room with a boot drying rack which was helpful as Day 4 was wet. It was a relaxed hotel.

Lake Achensee and its Mountains was more touristy, as we had chosen a warm week in August and we didn’t know it was a public holiday on the Tuesday, so Monday was a ‘bridging day’. Pertisau is mostly hotels, but in a lovely location. We did walks 1A, 3, 5, 7 and 9. The remaining day we did a different walk from Achenkirch. Our favourite walk was the Rofenspitze (Walk 7), which after a start with lots of people, thinned out as we climbed higher. The views from the top were wonderful. I used poles for that walk. Dalfaz Waterfall (Walk 9) makes the recommendation to change buses to go to Buchau, but as we missed the bus, we followed the yellow walking signs to the Falls (Wasserfälle). At one point there was a choice of routes (both going to the falls), and we took the left-hand narrower route which took us quickly into the woods. The bus wasn’t worth the time you might need to wait. The descent to Dalfaz waterfall was narrow, steep and slippery, so once we had a good view of the falls, we decided it wasn’t worth it to go to the bottom and went back to rejoin the route. Other people had gone down the the bottom of the falls though. The route apart from that is not technically difficult but as it was a hot day, the zigzag ascent felt quite long, and it was good to stop and admire the spectacular views back to the lake. The Dalfazalm Hut is a welcome sight and there is a short, pleasant route back to the cable car. Both walks 7 and 9 are worth to do in good weather to see the expansive views. The Wiesenhof hotel was very relaxing, and the staff were kind. I booked friends in for evening dinner one day and they set up a table for five of us in the bar area, as there was no space in the dining room. We liked it that all the staff had photos in the main hallway and the hotel seemed to have a strong people focus. The pool is great for swimming and there is a great thermometer that tells you the outside and water temperatures, so you know how much of a shock to expect getting in. Tip: Take flip flops, as I found the floor a bit slippery in the ones provided – it is especially worth it if you have small feet, as the hotels provide one size. Tip: Ask for a lighter duvet if it is summer.
As general comments, in Austria the mains are a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian. I could find something in the meat or fish options, but they don't really have good vegetarian choices. Overall, we felt well catered for. We didn't so much enjoy Austrian coffee as it's strong - the Verlanger is supposed to be a long coffee but isn't an Americano. The Cappuchinos are mostly milk froth and don't really have much coffee in. Some hotels do a cannister of coffee, but it seems to go cold quickly. Coffee aside, we enjoyed the cakes at the mountain huts and had a cold drink instead. At Achensee, the bus timetable was quite difficult to understand. The bus to Maurach parks for a while at the bottom of the Karwendel cable car. Wait at the cable car side of the road for the bus, which then picks up passengers all around Pertisau before going back via the cable car bus stop and heading off to Maurach. The bus from Maurach seemed rather unreliable, which is unusual for Austria. The bus is free with the guest pass you get at breakfast. We did not buy the Achensee card and the transport we used cost us about the same. We used the ferry twice, the Rofenspitze cable car down twice, and the Karwendel lift up once.

We were pleased with our holiday choice. The hotels, walks and transfers are all good, as we have come to expect from Inntravel. 

We fully enjoyed this holiday. We booked late, and appreciated the efforts Inntravel made to find a holiday to suit our needs. The hotels and food were excellent. We liked having a short and easy transfer from Innsbruck airport 

Our highlights were: walking in the Gaistal Valley on day 3, it was quite rainy so there were few other walkers about and we came across an Alpine Salamander on the path; and the walk from Ober Weidach to Reindlau during which we saw marmots and chamois, a fabulous day's walk. This was the most enjoyable holiday we have been on, can't recommend it highly enough. We will certainly be back for more.

I would recommend getting the train from Innsbruck if you fly there, its a really lovely short run up to Seefeld. I would also recommend getting hold of the local bus timetable, there are great services linking up the various villages in the Leutasch Valley.

A good holiday which is exactly as described in the brochure and website. Hotels are good quality and we especially enjoyed staying at the Inntaler Hof in Mosern with its fantastic views, lovely food, and attentive friendly staff.

Overall we had a great time. It was a first time using guided walks, so you learn from experience. Some of the days were a bit too long for us and I think the team would know that you were new to Inntravel so in my opinion it would've been good to have some contact to see how we were getting on. That would be my only feedback we literally had no contact from Inntravel.

Excellent locality and some great walks and hotels. The summer 'activ' cards provided by hotels are very handy (and more information on them could have been included to explain their benefits). The flowers and wildlife in late June/early July were brilliant but as expected apline weather can be changeable. We added extra days at Hubertershof and hired eBikes, which were very good quality and provided additional enjoyment and ability to access a wider area. Definetely recommend this holiday.

The combination of the Leutasch Valley walk with 4 nights in Pertisau and 3 nights in Innsbruck made for a very good holiday in a part of the world with amazing scenery. All hotels were very good with the Wiesenhof a very special hotel.

Have done this holiday before, albeit some years ago, and it didn't disappoint.  Guests should be notified of the dress code for dining at the Kristall (no shorts).

An amazing walking holiday with fabulous scenery. You are rewarded at the end of each day with lovely comfortable hotels which provide plentiful tasty food. Highly recommend the Mpreis supermarket in Weidach for stocking up on supplies and purchase of lunch. We also opted to include both of the suggested cable car trips from Seefeld and Mittenwald. Both well worth the expense and extra effort- The walk to the funicular in Seefeld is a little bit further than we realised which made for a long day's walk with a walk to the very top included as well! You get stunning views from both. We enjoyed the variety of walks which when assisted by the GPX files were easy to follow.

The Leutasch Valley holiday accommodation was a consistently high standard. All the hotels were sumptuous and welcoming, you could almost forget the walking and treat yourself to a spa experience instead!

Our favourite walk was the high level route between Ober-Weidach and Reindlau.

Highlights: Walking alongside chuckling rivers on peaceful tracks, through incredible Alpine meadows full of wild flowers. And then greeted by friendly hotel staff who served super meals!

If customers are able to - download the Kompass App and use it to help navigation (remember to organise roaming with the phone company). Some fellow customers used AllTrails (I think) but it wasn't as accurate as the Kompass map. 

The Leutasch Valley, Lake Achensee and Innsbruck are a really nice combination. All the hotels were first class, the walking was excellent and the scenery often stunning and by adding on extra days it could all be done at a leisurely pace. The weather varied, but it was never too hot and when it rained it could pour ... but only for a couple of hours. And the full sunny days were glorious. In short, a delighfully balanced holiday.

We had a fantastic holiday in the Leutasch Valley, the meadows were full of flowers and the mountain tops were capped with snow. Fortuitously, on our first day we met a couple of seasoned Inntravel travellers and walked four of the six walks with them. The hotels were marvellous and the food delicious.    

Absolutely stunning walking location, with exceptional Alpine meadows, great stop offs for food en-route. The hotels were all family run, with great service and beautiful food. We did not want to leave and we are missing the walking already. The longest walk was the best, a real achievement for us but well worth the effort and I will never forget that walk. 

Tips: For Reindlau to Mosern one can take a bus to Weidach, and then on Saturdays and Sundays at any rate the chair lift up to Katzenkopf FREE on the Gastekarte.

Highlights: the views and the flowers.

A beautiful area to walk in with three very comfortable spa hotels with excellent food.  Our highlights were the walk in the Gaistal Valley and the gorge walk into Mittenwald. In Mittenwald there was a festival with many local people out in Bavarian costume with lots of music and beer tent! Some useful tips which could be highlighted are: each hotel provides walking poles and rucksacks. Would it be possible to borrow walking poles from the Intaller and return them on the last day? With a deposit if necessary?  It's hard or impossible to get poles into a suitcase. there is a pass you can get from the hotels which gives you free rides on the local buses and discounts on other things.  We were given this without requesting it at the Kristall. The Hubertshof said he'd email it, but no one got it and the Intaller didn't mention it at all. each hotel gives you a basket with towels and flip flops/slippers. The idea is you wear the robes in your room to the spa and take the basket with your things in it. This process wasn't understood by any of the people from Inntravel so it may be useful to mention it in the notes as all the spas were lovely to visit!

So many highlights. Impossible to mention them all. Every day we were treated to stunning views. Walking through the incredible Spring Flower Meadows was amazing. Enjoyed our visit to Gaistelalm on the Gaistel valley route. Can recommend the Apfel Strudel and the beer while overlooking the stunning valley.

The food at Hotel Kristal was wonderful.

We were very fortunate - the weather was superb, and the flowers in the meadows (which were being cut as we arrived! in the valley) were wonderful.  All the hotels were wonderful and welcoming and the food was exceptional.  We were pleasantly surprised that each hotel offered an open buffet in the afternoons.
We had an extra night at each hotel, which for us worked well.  Thank you for organising this.  If we had not and had taken the long options each day, we might have felt we did not have enough time to enjoy the excellent facilities at each hotel -- the swimming pool at Inntalerhof and the rooftop infinity pool at Kristall were highlights.  
It was quite a quiet time tourist-wise, which for us was a bonus, but several of the mountain cafes on the trails were not open.
On one of our extra days we took the funicular and cable cars from Seefeld, which we hugely enjoyed, including the ridge walk up to one of the peaks.

Inntravel gave us a superb walking holiday in Austria. The scenery was stunning, the air was so fresh and clean and  the food and accommodation was excellent. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. The administration of the holiday was first class. Our tip is not to take too much notice of long range weather forecasts as once at our destination we discovered the weather can only be accurately forecast a day or two in advance! 

The meadows were full of beautiful flowers wherever we went. It was so picturesque in so many places & the views into the valley from Inntaler Hof were a real highlight. The food at the Kristall was wonderful, definitely the best out of all the hotels. Our holiday was made all the more special by the lovely weather & very friendly hosts at all the hotels. We loved the afternoon buffets with a choice of savoury as well as sweet dishes to enjoy. We took full advantage of these to satisfy our hunger until dinner time. A special week away indeed.

We did ask for lighter weighted duvets in our bedrooms & both Inntaler Hof & Hubertshof were able to provide these for our 2nd nights. There is no air conditioning in any of these hotels. 

Wonderful hotels, delicious food, very varied walking - from mountain meadows and streams to snow-covered slopes and glacial lakes, and even including 'cultural' highlight of Mittenwald, a stunning Bavarian village with beautifully painted houses. The itinerary is well-planned, to cater for a variety of different grade walks and to allow both challenging days and more relaxing ones. The infinity pool at Hotel Kristall, with views of the mountains all around, is stunning - and the staff at all the hotels are friendly and efficient. The Pertisau days offered a complete change of scenery - beside the Achensee lake - and although the atmosphere there is more touristy and less 'sporty', it was good to be able to enjoy a couple of more relaxed days at the end of the holiday. The Sachertorte at the Erfurthutte at the top of the Maurach cablecar is not to be missed! When going up in the Karwendel cablecar from Pertisau, the final carriage has the best views of the lake. 

We had a really good ten days comfortable hotels and excellent walks although some of the walking notes needed up dating luckily with the map a compass we didnt get lost. The food was varied and not too much with excellent breakfasts.

This trip exceeded expectations. The walks were spectacular and we lucked out with the weather. All of the hotels were lovely and the food very good at each.  Another fabulous Inntravel trip!

We have been on numerous Inntravel holidays, and this time combined three holidays giving us three weeks abroad. It was an excellent selection, no time wasted between holidays, and the travel arrangements Inntravel sourced for us, were perfect. We left Hotel Wiesenhof at 10.30am and arrived at our first Italian hotel at 2.00pm. The choice of hotels was good, particularly Hotel Hubertushof with its extremely friendly hosts, beautiful peaceful setting and excellent food. Pertisau was very special, Hotel Wiesenhof outstanding, and we particularly enjoyed the walk to Rofanspitze. The Dolomites were very busy with tourists, but loved the walking routes as wherever possible they took us away from the main tourist paths, so one could enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains. Two walks not to be missed are Mount Specie at Prato Piazza, and Mt Elmo. Gondolas have replaced the Cable car at Sesto, so there is no waiting as they run continuously. On our last night of the holiday, Frau Watschinger hosted a cocktail evening with an excellent guitarist who entertained us. The food at all the hotels was exceptional. Overall a magical holiday, so well organised as always by Inntravel. Thank you so much, we can't wait to plan our next adventure!

After an initial couple of days of heavy rain the sun came out and we had four days of wonderful walking. The scenery is glorious - wide green valleys, rivers flowing with water of a beautiful milky turquoise colour, beautiful forests and some stunning views. We particularly enjoyed the walks along the rivers and through the woods. Some of the climbs were pretty steep, particularly on the last day on the return journey to the Inntaler Hof and we felt we had earned our cold beer at the Möserer See café! Hotels were of a high standard and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed some very good meals, particularly breakfasts. We didn't need picnics as breakfasts were excellent and we sometimes even made it to the hotel in time for tea and cakes in the afternoon.

We had a hugely enjoyable time, the highlights being the long, peaceful walks and quality time spent together as a family journeying through a stunning landscape. The vivid colours of a high summer in Austria were striking. Inntravel were friendly and professional, and provided us with a reliable itinerary to explore an area we were previously unfamiliar with.

Inntaler Hof was excellent, with stunning views and a great pool, but could do with a chef shake up. Hotel Kristall's food and rooftop pool were both highlights. Leutasch Gorge is a wonderful place to visit, but get there early to avoid the tourists who have only walked from the car park! Mittenwald is well worth a visit with interesting architecture and pubs/restaurants and shops.

The Karwendelbahn cable car is a must, ascending over 2km up the mountain.  It is very expensive, but worth it. The landscape, the geology, the flora and fauna were fascinating.

HIGHLIGHTS: The walks from Mosern to Weidach and Reindlau back to Mosern felt like real journeys from one valley to another, with great and varied scenery. The food and hospitality at the Inntaler hof (especially Happy Man cocktails each night). In Salzburg my wife just loved the Sound of Music Tour and we both loved Salzburg as a city.

We had a great time on the The Leutasch Valley trip. The quality of the hotels and variety and intesity of the walks was excellent. We liked the choice of routes given on certain days so you could pick to suit your needs. The walking highlight for us was day 3 up the mountain. Highly recommend this trip, a great way to unwind.

An absolutely perfect week of beautiful scenery, varied and suitably challenging walking, well located and relaxing hotels, attentive service and great food. Simply the best way to switch off, relax and unwind. We will be back!

Both holidays were excellent and worked well back-to-back. We would recommend doing it in this order.Food proportions were enormous in all hotels (usually 6 couses at main meals); and the Leutasch Valley ones provided afternoon coffee and cakes each day if back early enough. We bought the Achensee Holiday Card card for €84 each from the hotel reception when we booked in; we made use of it in some way every day (and within 2 hours of our arrival). Well worth it. We found the mountain restaurants well worth visiting (for coffee and cakes, although in one on a wet day we found 'chocolade mit rhum'...).

The "high route" walk from the 2nd to 3rd hotel is well worth the effort as the views at the top are magnificent; even more so if one ventures a bit further along the different path beyond the small hut (this part of the path is fine). Similarly the "low level" walk to Mittenwald with the walk through the gorge is well worth it - also makes for a relatively easy day if one has done the high route the day before.

A word of praise also to the staff at Inntaler Hoff - due to problems with trains on the German network we were unsure of arrival time at Seefeld for the hotel pickup; but a flurry of e-mails en-route from Munich ensured a timely collection at the station.

Stunning scenery, very good varied walks, high standard hotels. 
Excellent detailed walk notes, very accurate and timings given for each section also accurate for us (ages 66- 68 years).
A highlight was the gorge day. Favourite day was the last day, the walk from Reindlau back to Mosern. 
Food in hotels of a high standard. Facilities in hotels very good. Hotel shuttle in Weidach easy to arrange and very useful. 

Walking through flower-filled meadows listening to bird song - a delight! 

If customers have time the walk from the Inntalerhof to the top of the Brunschkopf is excellent and the viewpoint at the top is amazing! (Inntalerhof - Möserer Seestub'n  - path 60  / 61 /62 (from the top of the Brunschkopf) / 63  (steep in places) leads down to the Wildmoosalm. Return by path 60 (initially heading towards Seefeld). A possible alternative to the Geschwandtkopf way to Seefeld?

Excellent, relaxing trip with high quality accommodation. Inntravel were helpful and efficient throughout and would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed travelling by train despite the extra time and expense. The nightjet added an extra dimension to the adventure. Walking highlights included the Gaistal valley walk and the walk down the Leutaschklamm gorge.
