We thoroughly enjoyed our cycling holiday, Mantova is a beautiful place and the hotel Casa Poli was our favourite of the holiday, we had a lovely room and enjoyed breakfast out in the garden. We did the warm up ride suggested and enjoyed discovering the joys of proper cycle paths and less visited villages.
The cycle on to Borghetto was easy on beautiful cycle paths, and despite the notes having told us to stock up with food and drink before leaving , it's not long before you reach Goito which is full of places to get refreshments. On arrival at hotel Faccioli we were greeted warmly with cold drinks, very welcome on such a hot day. Whilst this hotel is a little tired in its decor, it has a lot of character which more than makes up for it. We recommend the croissant at breakfast and the hotel will fill your water bottles with ice cold water in the morning which is a real luxury. The Sigurta Gardens are wonderful, and the rest of the cycle route around Borghetto was great too, a chance to see the real Italy away from the crowds, the small hamlets, vineyards, and as it turns out many trees growing kiwi fruit.
The cycle to Verona was mostly easy, although there was a tougher climb on an unmade road climbing away from the lake, we were on manual bikes so maybe an electric bike would make life easier here. The cycle to lake Garda is very lovely and very easy, you definitely want to linger on the shores here.
Verona was very busy but is very beautiful, the hotel is a chain hotel so it doesn't have the charm of the other 2 we stayed in, but such is the nature of a city hotel, it was perfectly fine.
This was a first cycling holiday for us and we would certainly consider another.
Inntravel's self-guided cycling holiday from Medieval Mantova to Romantic Verona was our first biking trip ever. We were grateful for the detailed guidebook that provided us with directions, trip/travel information, and general biking instruction. Inntravel worked diligently to make arrangements for our large group (11 people) to have accommodations that were wonderful. At each location, we were warmly greeted by hotel staff that made us feel right at home. We would highly recommend this cycling holiday and Inntravel for your holiday experience.
We had an enjoyable holiday with an extra night in Mantova. It's only four cycle rides on excellent routes with a maximum of 32 miles into Verona. We particularly liked the variety staying in 3 different hotels, of sightseeing around beautiful historic towns, cycling through countryside, by rivers, Sigurta gardens and having meals in lovely locations. (Especially Lo Stappo in Borgetto sitting on an outdoor terrace next to the river).
Inntravel's information booklet had very clear route directions and recommendations, all carefully planned.

We had a very enjoyable week and particularly liked pretty Borghetto. We wouldn't recommend an extra night there though as it is very small. We stayed 3 nights in Verona, an added extra night due to our flight schedule. In hindsight we would have preferred to spend a night in Pescheira Del Garda, which looked lovely and it would have also broken up the long bike ride to Verona. Despite so many restaurants in Verona we didnt find the type of Italian food we were looking for and so many restaurants seemed to provide the same menu. We did however have an excellent Japanese meal, our first, in the Japanese restaurant almost next door to Hotel Indigo.
We went the first week in October and the weather couldn't have been better, warm and sunny every day up to mid 20s and perfect for cycling.
Very enjoyable cycling trip ('Medieval Mantova to Romantic Verona') around the Verona region, good spots to stop for drinks and lunch. We also enjoyed 'An Italian Lake paradise' - exporing Lake Garda on foot and by ferry. We particularly loved staying at Hotel Gardenia al Lago, great location and such friendly staff.
We had a very enjoyable holiday cycling from Mantova to Verona, mostly along well-marked cycle tracks. The boat trip at Grazie was good but it was necessary to book in advance. Borghetto was a highlight for us and we enjoyed dining in Hotel Faccioli's restaurant. There are lots of interesting buildings and churches to visit in Mantova and Verona. The electric bikes were excellent.
We ended the holiday with a couple of nights at Gargnano on the Italian Lake Paradise walking holiday. The hotel was delightful, with delicious evening meals. We enjoyed visiting Limone by ferry and walking in the area of Gargnano. Other than ferries, buses were very infrequent.
An excellent tour, with much of interest in the three hotels, and their environments, and en route. A good decision to include a taste of Lake Garda in the itinerary. Maybe if it were a seven day tour an extra could be spent in Mantova. Only one day is scheduled to be spent there, and it would be a shame not to see the town if the bike ride were chosen. There is much to enjoy here, especially the Ducal Palace. Route descriptions were excellent, even for the 'cross country' section between Lake Garda and the cycle route into Verona.
An excellent holiday overall. Brochure should make it clear that cycling helmets are not provided. In the instruction booklet the hotel in Verona is called the Grande Artes but it has obviously been taken over by the Indigo group and that is the main sign outside. I was aware of the name change through my own researches but it could confuse others. Others in our party had a poor room in the Indigo which they christened "the dungeon". Management accepted it was poor but the hotel was full that night so a move was not possible although offered for the next. All the breakfasts in the hotels were excellent and the electric bikes probably the best we have had. The notes were good but in my view they do not need to be so detailed. If you are travelling for about 2 miles on a straight road or track you do not need intermediate stops pointed out. These are minor points in an otherwise very good holiday.

Well defined, flat and very pleasing cycle paths particularly along lakes, rivers etc; all very safe and most enjoyable to use. Our initial stop on the first day in a village called Grazie was good and visiting a local church very memorable-well worth stopping for, and also a good selection of cafes etc for a welcome break as we became accustomed to cycling again. The gardens at Sigurta were excellent and it was especially enjoyable being able to cycle safely again on more defined paths even in such a busy place. The quality of the bikes, Kalkhoff, was very high. Very comfortable and easy, practical panniers.
A perfect holiday and first biking holiday experience. The route was gorgeous, mostly on dedicated cycle paths, and easy even for someone who is not accustomed to riding. Borghetto and the Sigurta Garden Park are utterly beautiful. My advice is to take the whole day in the Garden Park and lunch nearby, forget the rest of the cycling trip suggested in Inntravel for that day.
