This Holiday in a nutshell
  • self-guided driving adventure through fjord Norway
  • mountains, glaciers, waterfalls and majestic fjords
  • explore Bergen with included 24-hour City Card
  • finish in strikingly beautiful Ålesund

On account of its astonishing natural beauty, as well as a fascinating culture and friendly, laid-back people, Norway is a country you should visit at least once in your lifetime. And the greatest draw here, besides the icecaps and fissured coastline, mountain moorland and vast expanse of untainted wilderness, is of course the fjords. Little can prepare you for the serenity of the views, and the almost spiritual sense of calm, as you marvel at these fingers of deep-blue, crystal-clear water that wind their way among steep-sided valleys into the heart of this magical land.
Starting in handsome Bergen and ending in Ålesund (which I love), this touring holiday by car offers exactly what its name suggests: the best of the fjords, with no shortage of ravishing views and spellbinding scenery.

Rebecca Bruce, Inntravel
After a fitting opening in beautiful Bergen, known as the 'gateway to the fjords', this unforgettable, self-guided adventure by car takes you first along Handangerfjord, with its abundant fruit orchards and wide-open views, before continuing via the glistening waters of Nærøyfjord to an historic gem of an hotel. While nearby Sognefjord is a treat, it is but a prelude to the marvels of the Jostedal Glacier and, later on, incomparable Geirangerfjord, where we suggest you escape the tourist trail to drive to an incredible viewpoint. Your final port of call, Ålesund, has a unique coastal location on a narrow peninsula, and is a fascinating place to finish. Soak up its maritime charm, as well as that of its neighbouring islands.
