Inntravel holidays in the Faroe Islands
archipelago of untamed beauty
cosy, friendly accommodation
There’s a certain abruptness to the Faroe Islands. Instead of the land gently sloping up from the sea, cliffs rise sheer from the water, and steep-sided, angular mountains dwarf the fishing villages that nestle below. Here, in the Norwegian Sea, quick-tempered Mother Nature reigns supreme, her different moods impacting on the scenery. Sometimes, when she whips up the wind, foaming, frothing waves crash against the cliffs, and the shafts of sunlight which force their way through cracks in the glowering sky make the thick grass look almost luminous. At other times, the sea laps gently at the islands, and shadows from skittering clouds dance across the green slopes, or you may encounter mist shrouding the peaks, rendering them all the more surreal. Whatever the weather, such dramatic scenery invites you to discover it on foot, at your own pace.
