Walking & exploring in Morocco
Morocco is a wonderful tapestry of colours. In both Fez and Marrakesh, these range from the brilliant green, blue and white tiles of the mosques to the earthy ochre of the ramparts, and from the rich reds of the carpets to the deep pinks of the flowers in the gardens. In the Atlas Mountains, brown slopes contrast with both the snow on the peaks and the green valleys far below, while in the desert the amazing quality of the light makes the dunes change from orange, to gold, to yellow... Even the food is colourful, featuring courgettes, aubergines and red peppers. A different way of lifeOur holidays to Morocco reveal a different way of life, one that in many ways has remained unchanged for centuries. The trails that you follow in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains have linked villages since they were built and are still used by muleteers and shepherds. As you walk, you pass men selling goods from baskets strapped to the backs of donkeys, or mining salt as they have done for generations, and women working the fields by hand, gathering firewood or tending to their sheep. Even in the cities - especially in the souks of the medinas - you can feel as if you have been transported back in time. Flexible itineraries In the High Atlas we offer two seven-night walking holidays with your own guide, each starting with three nights in Marrakesh. Our holidays:> In the Footsteps of Sultans (7 nights, grade 2-3) Other information:> Marrakesh & alternative accommodation ![]() |
