Hotel Urthaler, Seiseralm, Südtirol Dolomites
The Dolomites have a unique beauty, their jagged peaks piercing the sky above snowy meadows, thick forests and romantic castles. The Südtirol combines Tyrolean charm with Italian flair, influencing the food, language (German and Italian are spoken) and long-held traditions. In winter, you can enjoy many activities on the splendid Seiseralm Plateau, Europe’s largest high plateau, at nearly 2,000 metres.
For the highest standards of accommodation, and immediate access to great cross-country and downhill skiing, look no further than the Hotel Urthaler. Enjoying magnificent views towards the Dolomites, it is enviably situated on the Seiseralm, Europe’s largest high plateau and a real winter playground where you can enjoy a wide range of activities.
But the hotel’s greatest appeal lies in its stylish luxury. From the refined cuisine to the spacious, wood-panelled bedrooms (we include rooms with a bath and south-facing balcony or terrace), no detail has been overlooked, and the hospitable Urthaler family is justly proud. Built entirely from wood and in complete harmony with its surroundings, the hotel is unique in Europe. Its focal point is the outstanding spa complex – one of the best in our selection – comprising a panoramic heated indoor-outdoor pool, fitness room, Finnish sauna, steam room, whirlpool, meditation room and facilities for a wide variety of beauty and body treatments. Evenings are a special time on the plateau, the pleasant bustle of the shops and cafés replaced by a magical stillness, and with its atmospheric stube and other bars, the hotel is the perfect place to unwind.
Given the hotel’s location, you have direct access to the winter walking paths and skiing. Few of our chosen areas offer cross-country and downhill skiing so close together, and both are equally fantastic, with the emphasis of this alpine domain on runs for beginners and intermediates – and lots of easy-to-use chairlifts.
