Inntalerhof, Mösern, Tyrol
The epitome of the famed Tyrolean hospitality, fantastic cuisine, a superb spa complex and an idyllic setting that nevertheless offers quick access to Mösern’s cross-country domain and the downhill skiing at neighbouring Seefeld...the 4-star Inntalerhof has it all. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is praised equally highly by the families staying here at holiday time as by the keen skiers with whom it is very popular during the rest of the season. We have worked with the English-speaking Heidkamp-Neuner family for many years, and because of this you are very well looked after. Rooms: The spacious bedrooms are attractively appointed – some are rustic in style, with oak furniture, while others are more modern-looking, with light wood and warm colours. Our prices are based on the rooms overlooking the village and its church, most of which have a balcony. Facilities include a radio, telephone, hairdryer, baby monitoring device, satellite television and bathrobes, and all can accommodate an extra bed for a child. For an amazing view of the Inn Valley, you can upgrade to a south-facing room with a balcony. Furnished in rustic oak, these rooms have the benefit of a bath rather than a shower, and can accommodate a child on the sofa bed. The facilities are the same as those of our included rooms. It is also possible to upgrade to a junior suite or family room, the latter of which sleeps a family of four. Facilities: The focal point of the hotel is the excellent spa complex, which consists of an indoor swimming pool with views of the Inn Valley, a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, a panoramic relaxation room and a fitness and weights room, all of which are free to use. You can join in the weekly programme of activities such as aqua aerobics. Also available for a charge is a solarium and beauty treatments (such as body wraps, hay baths, herbal baths and hot stone treatments) and massages (Swedish and sports). Elsewhere in the hotel you can relax in the lounge with its fireplace, on the sun terrace, in the library or in the bar with its tiled stove. There is a computer with internet access in the hotel lobby. Other facilities include ski storage, a drying room and, for children, table tennis, a playroom, toys, a babysitting service and a daily kids’ club for over threes in the holiday season. There is also supervised childcare at lunch and dinner, and a special children’s menu. Restaurant: Like many of the public rooms, the restaurant boasts sweeping views of the Inn Valley and the mountains that frame it. Here, you enjoy first-rate cuisine, choosing from a four-course menu on which there is always a vegetarian option. The restaurant is also the setting for the welcome cocktail, Tyrolean buffet, and gala or themed dinner, all of which are held once a week. Unusually, soft drinks with dinner are included in the price. Breakfast is a buffet of principally local produce, complete with a ‘healthy corner’. Also included is a light lunch of soup and salad, as well as afternoon tea and home-made cakes, served in the à la carte stube (parlour). Skiing and other winter activities: The cross-country trails immediately around Mösern, though best suited to advanced skiers because they are mostly graded black, form part of a wider, very varied, 118-kilometre network that includes the valley that has been named Europe’s most beautiful cross-country domain. You can access the heart of the network using the free ski buses which depart 100 metres from the hotel, and could extend your range even further by connecting with another easy-to-use bus or skiing to one of the huts and catching an inexpensive taxi back. If downhill skiing is your passion, you can use the same free ski bus or the lifts 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel to access the nine blue and five red pistes at Seefeld, an alpine resort that enjoys high regard in Austria. Other activities available in the surrounding area include winter walking (there are 80 kilometres of paths), curling, ice-skating and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Outside the peak season, the hotel offers excursions and organised activities such as snow-shoeing. The village: The peaceful, idyllic village of Mösern has a few shops, a café, a church and the ‘Peace Bell’ monument. In contrast, nearby Seefeld is much busier, offering many shops, restaurants, cafés, discos and even a casino. Christmas festivities: If you are holidaying over Christmas, you can enjoy a traditional Tyrolean Christmas Eve, a gala dinner, and lots of children's activities. New Year celebrations: The hotel sees in the New Year with a candlelit gala dinner, fireworks at midnight and dancing into the small hours. January special: For week-long stays starting between 3 and 24 January 2009 inclusive, we include a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Prices & travel:
