Cycling

TuscanyA four-night cycling break is a great way to blow away the cobwebs. Our routes offer generally quite relaxed cycling, leaving plenty of time for cultural visits and leisurely lunches en route, though you can extend the routes if you so wish. Whether you choose Spain's Catalan Coast or the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany, you cycle self-guided, following carefully researched route notes, while your luggage is transported ahead. Suitably detailed maps are also provided.

Local professionals provide and maintain the high-quality, light cycles, and assistance is available throughout your break in case of emergency. All bikes are fitted with comfy saddles, front and rear lights, ample panniers, a waterproof map case, puncture repair kit, pump and lock, and have a minimum of 18 gears.

We grade our cycling breaks as follows:
• Grade 1, easy for all - mainly flat, some gentle ascents
• Grade 1-2, fairly easy - occasional uphill sections
• Grade 2, moderate - some longer, steady climbs & longer days
• Grade 2-3, fairly strenuous - frequent ascents & descents
• Grade 3, strenuous - long, challenging days

The ever-changing scenery and variety of accommodation are real highlights.

This is a side of the island that, thankfully, few tourists bother to experience, and cycling here is a true delight, especially when staying at two charming country estates. Both have a pool so you can enjoy some well-earned relaxation at the end of each day.

This corner of northern Catalonia is one of Spain’s least-known and most varied regions, where you pedal among ancient stone villages, dotted between wheat fields and pine woods. This is cycling at its leisurely best, following disused railway lines on your way to the fascinating city of Girona.
