Hotel des Loges

Stylish 3-star hotel in heart of Honfleur

This is a stylish hotel located just a couple of streets back from Honfleur's Vieux Bassin. We love the friendly atmosphere here - nothing is too much trouble for owner Catherine Chouridis, who extends a warm and genuine welcome to her guests. Originally an interior designer, Catherine has created a modern yet intimate hotel. No two rooms are the same, and there are plenty of personal touches throughout. If you like Catherine's lovely cushions and quilts, be sure to visit her shop opposite for an unusual memento of your stay!

On your first night, we include dinner at Entre Terre et Mer which boasts a Michelin bib gourmand and has a wonderfully relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere. As the restaurant's name suggests, the 4-course menu - in our view one of the best in the port - offers a choice of dishes from the land and the sea, including delights such as tuna steak with tapenade, and red mullet fillet pan-fried with coriander. On your second and any subsequent nights, you can take your pick of many other friendly, high-quality restaurants (pay locally), including the Michelin-starred La Terrasse de l'Assiette, whose daily-changing menu features a mix of Norman and fish dishes such as salmon with artichokes and jambon de Bayonne, the highly praised Les Flots, and the Chat Qui Pêche, an atmospheric brasserie whose speciality is matelotte, a fish stew with mushrooms and onions.

Around and about

• the charming port of Honfleur, with its museums, unusual wooden church and many art galleries
• the Côte Fleurie, including chic Deauville
• the Seine valley, especially the abbey at Jumièges, the church at Caudebec-en-Caux, the Victor Hugo museum at Villequier, and the castle in the pretty village of Les Andelys
