France

Land of fine wines and cuisine

The regions of France are wonderfully individual, with architecture, customs, cuisine and accents all combining to give them each a distinctive character. Nowhere can this be felt more strongly than in rural France - ‘la France profonde’ - where life has changed at a slower pace and a powerful sense of past remains. In our chosen regions, history and traditions are always close. From the vineyards of Aquitaine in the south-west to the rich gastronomy of the Dordogne, and from the paths of Provence to colourful southern markets selling local produce, there is much to discover. The unspoiled landscapes of these enchanting regions are perfect for leisurely exploration by car, bicycle or on foot, rewarding you with many remarkable discoveries, not least some inspirational panoramas.
