Pricing & General Information for our Families Programme Your holiday price Your holiday priceAll prices on our website are expressed (unless otherwise stated) in £ per person. Prices vary according to season, with your holiday start date determining the price. Adult prices apply to members of your party aged 16 and over (unless otherwise stated). On riding, hotel-to-hotel walking holidays, and hotel-based discovery holidays, all adults pay the full adult price. On self-catering holidays, the adult price is paid by the first two adults only; additional adults pay the child price unless otherwise stated. Child prices apply for children aged 15 or under (unless otherwise stated), and can vary according to the age of the child on the date of outward travel. On riding, self-catering and hotel-based discovery holidays, the child price applies where there are two adults paying the full adult price and the whole family is travelling together in one vehicle. If there is only one accompanying adult, then one child should pay the adult price on self-catering holidays; charges vary on riding and hotel-based discovery holidays, so please call for a quotation. On hotel-to-hotel walking holidays, the child price applies irrespective of the number of accompanying adults. You can choose to switch to larger (or smaller) rooms, depending on the requirements of your family. Prices for our riding and hotel-based discovery holidays are based on one family sharing the room described in the price panel, usually a superior room or junior suite, but we indicate the price payable per room per night to occupy an alternative room. On hotel-to-hotel walking holidays, our prices are based on two people (adults or children) sharing a twin or a double room as it is usually not possible to reserve family rooms; we can, however, often arrange for a child to occupy a third bed in a twin or double room, and indicate a price reduction for this arrangement. We try to ensure that rooms are booked adjacent or very close to one another. Single room prices are shown in the holiday price panels, if you
prefer an adult or an older child to have their own room. Prices are expressed as the additional amount payable per single room for the whole holiday. ‘Property and hire car’ prices include (unless otherwise stated) accommodation for the number of nights stated in the price panel and hire of a car in the category indicated for the same duration. The included car will be of an adequate size for a family of four, but you can choose to upgrade to suit your requirements and preferences. Please ensure you read the important notes on car hire. The ‘Walk price’, ‘Discovery price’ or ‘Ride price’ includes accommodation for the number of nights stated in the price panel and all related services such as luggage transfers, but no travel (except a hire car and/or travel elements that form an integral part of the holiday and are specifically stated in the description). If you wish to fly to your destination and are flying via our recommended airport(s), we can arrange a hire car or connecting travel for you. The connecting travel is usually a private transfer by taxi from/to your destination airport, or by rail and taxi (rail travel is either from the airport in the case of Munich and Zurich, or from the city centre in other cases). The price panel indicates the price for the connecting travel (expressed either per family or per person) and the anticipated duration (which does not include any connection times between airports and city stations). If you book your connecting travel through Inntravel, full journey details will be shown on your personalised itinerary, which we include with your tickets and final documentation. ‘Self-drive’ prices include a return Channel crossing for your party and one car with P&O Ferries from Dover to Calais. A supplement of £38 per car per single journey applies on this route for weekend travel from 23 May to 1 June and from 25 July to 7 September 2008 inclusive. (‘Weekend’ is defined as Friday and Saturday for outward travel, and Saturday and Sunday for the return crossing.) We can also book other routes and operators, providing you travel out and back with the same company (please call for prices). Rail travel can also be booked for holidays in France, Switzerland, Austria and northern Spain, to include travel by Eurostar to the continent and onward with other rail services. Many journeys may require an overnight stay in Paris. Please call for a quotation. Making a bookingTo book your holiday, you can complete our online booking form, though to discuss the general suitability of the holiday and the accommodation requirements of your family, we recommend you call us on 01653 617022 instead so that our expert reservations staff can talk you through the numerous options available to you. (Please note that some calls may be recorded for training and quality control purposes.) However you book, we require a deposit (£240 per family on a self-catering holiday; £120 per person on all other holidays) to confirm the reservation, along with your insurance premiums (if required) and the price of your flights if you ask us to arrange these for you. It is assumed that you have accepted our Booking Conditions. Please have the following to hand when making your booking:
If you are arranging your own insurance, we also require:
For self-drive holidays we need:
Once we have made the requested reservations, we will send you a Booking Confirmation and Invoice. We ask that you pay the balance no fewer than 8 weeks before departure. We will normally send you your documentation 2-3 weeks in advance of your holiday. We will consult you if we cannot make any of the arrangements (unless it is a minor detail) and we will refund your deposit in full if we are unable to arrange the holiday requested or offer an acceptable alternative. You can choose to pay by a variety of methods: bank or building society cheque (made payable to Inntravel Ltd), online transfer direct into Inntravel’s bank account (details are available on request), debit card (Visa Debit or Maestro) or credit card (MasterCard or Visa). We are currently unable to accept American Express cards. Because we are charged for credit card payments, we levy a credit card fee of 1.25% of the holiday price if you choose to pay by MasterCard or Visa. We do not levy charges for any other type of payment. We advise you to book early to get the holiday you want, as the school holidays are the most popular periods to travel (we suggest at least four months in advance due to the intense demand for flights and accommodation). Last-minute bookings are sometimes still possible, for which we may have to make an extra charge for secure ticket delivery. Insurance, passports, visas & health requirementsInsurance We offer a personal holiday insurance policy specifically tailored to our type of holiday by Voyager Insurance, whose cover is among the most comprehensive available. In addition to emergency medical assistance, the policy provides cover for cancellation and travel disruption in many circumstances, and even covers you if you are unable to walk due to illness or injury. When you purchase a single trip policy, children aged 13 or under are free when travelling as part of the family. As personal holiday insurance is so important, it is a requirement of our Booking Conditions that you take out adequate cover. We will, therefore, require you to take out our policy and pay the appropriate premium at the time of booking unless you provide us with details of equivalent cover you have already arranged. It is your responsibility to ensure that your policy offers adequate cover which is at least as comprehensive as the cover we offer. We do not check alternative policies. Passports & visas British citizens must have a full British passport to visit the countries in this programme, but no visas are required. If your passport is due to expire, please check the requirements of the country you are visiting - some nations will not allow you entry unless your passport is valid for a further 6 months. Entry requirements may change and you must check the up-to-date position in good time before departure. A British passport presently takes approximately 4 weeks to obtain (see the United Kingdom Passport Service’s website, ips.gov.uk). Babies and children aged 15 or under must now have their own passport, and cannot be included on a parent’s passport. Children’s passports are valid for 5 years (for advice on this, see ips.gov.uk/passport/apply-child.asp). If you or any member of your party does not yet have a passport, our recommendation is that you should apply for one at least 6 weeks before your holiday. The UK Passport Service has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and will ask you to attend an interview in order to do this. If you or any member of your party is not a British citizen or holds a non British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies) to or through which you are intending to travel. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office produces up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. For further information, please visit fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo or telephone 0845 850 2829. Alternatively, contact ABTA’s Travel Information Line on 0901 201 5050 (calls charged at 50 pence per minute). Information on health is given on the Department of Health website dh.gov.uk and in the booklet T7 (Health Advice for Travellers) available from your local Department of Health office and most Post Offices. You should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) prior to departure as this may entitle you to free or reduced cost medical treatment while abroad (this card replaced the now defunct E111). You can apply for your EHIC online by visiting dh.gov.uk, by telephone on 0845 606 2030, or by post with a form available from most Post Offices. Telephone and postal applications can take up to 21 days. Please note that an EHIC should not be relied upon as a substitute for comprehensive travel insurance. The EHIC scheme is valid in all countries of the EU, and Norway. Switzerland also operates the same arrangement. Please note that a separate card will be issued for each member of your family. Other information - walking, discovery & riding holidaysAll rooms include a private bath and/or shower and WC. Where your stay at any hotel is for fewer than 3 nights, your bedroom will have either a bath or a shower. For stays of 3 nights or more we can specifically request, but cannot guarantee, a bath rather than a shower, and vice versa. You can extend any holiday by adding extra nights. Please call us for details and prices. Your preference for twin-bedded or double-bedded rooms will be requested whenever possible, but you should tell us if it is essential that your children have separate beds. You should be aware that many hotels in Switzerland and Austria, for instance, offer rooms which have only Austrian-style beds, which comprise of two large single mattresses with individual bedding on one large base, which cannot be separated. Other information - self-catering holidaysSome property owners require holidays to run from Saturday to Saturday, while others have no preference (please see individual price panels for details). Bed linen is included in the price. Towels are not always provided so please refer to your holiday documentation (sent with your tickets before departure) and bring these with you if necessary. Heating and electricity are included, unless stated otherwise in the price panel. Final cleaning is included at all self-catering properties, but you still have the responsibility to leave the property as you found it. A refundable cash deposit is sometimes required by the property owners on arrival to cover any breakages or damage. We will tell you about this in your holiday documentation. You can book additional weeks at your self-catering property. Please call us for prices. Other information - generalWe supply full documentation to help you get the most from your holiday, including information on your accommodation and details on how to enjoy a range of activities in the surrounding area. Where we supply walking routes, we provide local maps (usually 1:25,000 or 1:50,000) and our own regularly updated route notes, and we also provide the main road maps for your destination. As your documentation pack is necessarily quite large to incorporate this wealth of information, we charge customers living outside Britain (including those in the Republic of Ireland) £20 per pack to cover the additional postage costs. Your health and safety while on holiday is a priority to us, as you would expect. Please read your documentation carefully for relevant information, and be sure to familiarise yourself with your accommodation on arrival. Take particular care near balconies and terraces, and please note that swimming pools, where available, are unguarded, and some will be unfenced or have no depth indicators, so children must be supervised at all times. Outdoor swimming pools are typically only available from May to September, though this depends very much on local weather conditions - in the mountains, this period is much shorter, while in warmer climes it may be much longer. In addition, pools may be closed periodically for maintenance. Booking flights through Inntravel Fly from an airport near you
It is no secret that the airline world is evolving at a rapid pace. In recent
years, new airlines have connected numerous local airports in Britain to
a vast array of European destinations, many of them well located for
easy access to the regions we feature in this programme. The addition
of so many routes has also had a startling effect on prices. Seats are
sometimes available for the same price as a short taxi journey to your
local restaurant, but as more seats are sold the price increases, with the
result that two passengers sitting next to each other and receiving
exactly the same service may have paid a very different price. i) Inntravel special fares We will offer these wherever they are available. We have access to special fares to many of our destinations from leading airlines such as British Airways, Swiss, SAS and Iberia, among others. The price of these special fares varies according to availability on specific flights, but we will quote the best available special fare for your choice of dates and times. ii) Published fares If a special fare is no longer available on your choice of flight, or you prefer to fly on a route or with an airline for which we do not hold special fares, we may be able to make reservations on your behalf using ‘published’ fares that have been made available without commission or special concessions to holiday companies and travel agents in general, or directly to the general public. Such reservations will be subject to a service fee of £25 per adult, £10 per child. iii) No frills airlines We are happy to make reservations for you at the
prices and conditions shown on the websites of such airlines as EasyJet,
Ryanair and Jet2, subject also to a service fee of £25 per adult, £10 per child. Advance Passenger Information (API) As part of measures to ensure aviation safety and security, some countries - including Spain - require all airlines to provide specific information about every passenger before their arrival in the country. This information includes full given names as shown on the passport, date of birth, nationality and passport number. Often these details are gathered at check-in, but some airlines require the information at an earlier stage. In these cases, and where we have booked the flights on your behalf, we will request the required information from you and submit it to the airline. Car hirePrices for holidays with a hire car include (unless otherwise stated) hire of a car in the category and for the duration specified in the price panel. The car will be a 4/5 door manual-transmission car with air conditioning, and of an adequate size for a family of 4. You can choose to upgrade your car to suit your requirements and preference – please call for prices. We use AVIS in most destinations, except Greece where we use reputable local suppliers. Rentals are charged per 24-hour period. For extra days on a holiday with car hire, you will need to pay for the extra day(s) car hire in addition to the extra night(s) price at your accommodation. The amount varies greatly between destinations, size of car and the length of your stay, so please enquire for the most up-to-date prices. If your flight arrangements mean that you have the car for longer than the period included in the normal holiday arrangements, there will be an extra day’s hire to pay. We will state this when we confirm your booking. Our rental arrangements include one driver named at the time of booking, and an additional driver can be paid for locally when you collect your car. The additional driver charge varies from country to country, ranging for example from approximately €7 per day in Spain to €35 per rental in Austria. Child safety seats and booster seats should be reserved at the time of booking, but you usually pay for them locally when you collect your car. Again, prices vary from country to country; for example, in Spain the charge is approximately €6 per seat per day up to a maximum of €42 per rental, and in France the charge is €28 per rental. Our rental agreements include unlimited mileage, local taxes, airport charges, third party liability, one driver, Vehicle Damage Cover (insurance against accidental damage to the vehicle - see below) and Theft Waiver (TW - vehicle theft insurance - see below). Not included are excess charges‡ for Vehicle Damage Cover and
TW, road fund licence fee (up to £2 per day in those countries where
applicable), fuel and refuelling charges, personal insurance, additional
driver fees, and charges for special equipment such as child seats, and one way drop-off charges where applicable. Self-drive options & important cross-Channel informationIncluded in our ‘self-drive’ prices is a return Channel crossing between Dover and Calais with P&O Ferries for your party (minimum 2 adults) travelling in one car. The crossing takes 75 minutes and during peak periods there are departures every 45 minutes. A supplement of £38 per car per single journey applies on this route for weekend travel from 23 May to 1 June and from 25 July to 7 September 2008 inclusive. Upgrade to P&O Ferries’ Club Plus service on the Dover to Calais route. For just £12 per person plus £8 per car each way you benefit from: priority boarding and disembarkation; access to the exclusive Club Lounge with complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks, newspapers, waiter service and snack menu. You can travel on alternative routes or with another operator, providing you travel out and back with the same company. We are able to offer the following routes and operators at supplements (please call for prices): Eurotunnel offers the quickest method of taking your car across the Channel, with a crossing time of only 35 minutes from Folkestone and Calais. Its convenient service operates 365 days a year with a choice of up to three departures an hour during peak periods. Upgrade to Flexiplus and you benefit from a dedicated check-in, exclusive lounge serving complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks, and priority boarding. To choose Eurotunnel as your ‘self-drive’ option, please call 01653 617022 for details and prices. When you book, let us know if your car and equipment are more than 1.85m high. Eurotunnel is unable to carry LPG/dual powered cars. Brittany Ferries enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of its ships and on-board service. It operates a fast-craft service between Portsmouth and Cherbourg, and a combination of fast-craft services and traditional ferries from Portsmouth to Caen and Poole to Cherbourg. Traditional ferries also run from Portsmouth to St Malo. If you are travelling from northern England or Scotland, we highly recommend P&O Ferries’ overnight service from Hull to Zeebrugge. These large, comfortable cruise ships leave every evening at 1900, and they arrive the following morning at around 0815. From Zeebrugge, you have easy access to the French motorway system, or you can head east to Switzerland, Austria and Italy. Another option is Superfast Ferries’ excellent overnight service from Rosyth to Zeebrugge, with daily departures at 1700 (1800 for the return) for the 18-hour crossing. Important cross-Channel travel information Ferry and Eurotunnel reservations are made for fixed time departures; please arrive in plenty of time to check in. On-board accommodation is obligatory on all night sailings and must be reserved in advance. Statutory legislation obliges all cross-Channel operators to hold the names, ages and gender of all passengers and whether any special assistance is required on board. Please provide these details at the time of booking to prevent hold-ups at port. There is a maximum overall height for cars (including roof loads) of 3 metres and a maximum length of 6 metres. Charges may apply to cars over 1.5 metres high (including roof loads) or over 5 metres in length, according to each operator’s normal conditions of carriage. Please inform us of the length and height of your car at the time of booking and let us know if cycles are to be carried on the rear of your car. Rail travelEuropean rail travel, combined with Eurostar services through the Channel Tunnel, is an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to get to your holiday destination. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of room to move around and store luggage, and refreshments are available on board. Our holiday in Engelberg can be reached from St Pancras in a day, while holidays further afield in France, Austria and northern Spain are easily accessible with an overnight in Paris.
