Your holiday price

All prices on our website are (unless otherwise stated) in £ per person, based on a minimum of two adults travelling together and sharing a twin or double room. For many breaks, we are able to offer a reduction for groups of 3 or more adults travelling together (in same car, where applicable). We express this as a lower price per person for larger parties.

Prices vary according to season, with your start date determining the season applicable.

Many breaks include dinner and breakfast each day, though stays at some hotels, such as city hotels, are on a bed and breakfast basis, so please see the text above the relevant price panel for the included meal arrangements. Drinks (except those at breakfast) should be paid for locally.

'Self-drive' prices include a return Channel crossing for your party (minimum of 2 adults) and one car with P&O Ferries from Dover to Calais (1hr15). A supplement of £30 per car per single journey applies on this route for weekend travel (Friday and Saturday for outward travel and Saturday and Sunday for the return crossing) from 23 May to 1 June and from 25 July to 7 September 2008 inclusive. Please read the important information about Channel crossings. We can also offer a range of other crossings including Folkestone to Calais Coquelles with Eurotunnel, Portsmouth to Cherbourg (particularly convenient for breaks in Normandy) with Brittany Ferries, and Hull to Zeebrugge with P&O Ferries. Please contact us for a quotation.

There is a 4-night maximum stay on all self-drive breaks. For longer stays, a supplement will be payable (please ask for details).

'By rail' prices include return Eurostar from London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet International to Lille, Paris or Brussels in standard class, with onward rail (again in standard class) as applicable. The reserved seat rail tickets we provide can only be used on the dates and times specified on the tickets and cannot be changed or refunded. To upgrade to first class, please contact us for prices.

Single rooms, often a double room given over for single occupancy, incur a supplement, expressed per room per night. Prices for parties of 3 and 5 people do not include the single room supplement for the third and fifth person. For single travellers we may have to make a further charge in addition to the single room supplement, which we will inform you about at the time of booking.

Superior rooms are available at some hotels. In such cases we express the supplement per person per night.

Children under 4 sharing their parents' room incur an accommodation charge of £3 per night on self-drive breaks. For travel by rail, please contact us for a quotation.

You can add extra nights at country auberges and city hotels, though please note there is a 4-night maximum stay on self-drive breaks. Extra night prices, where given, are per person per night and are normally based on the same meal arrangements as for the first night. Three exceptions are Ostel des Trois Luppars in Arras and Hotel des Loges and Hotel du Cheval Blanc in Honfleur, for which extra night prices do not include dinner.

You can combine two country auberges, provided that your stay at each hotel is for a minimum of 2 nights. We price your stay at the second hotel according to when you arrive at that hotel, basing it on the extra night rate.

Making a booking

To book your break, you can complete our online booking form, though if you have any questions at all, we recommend you call us on 01653 617910 instead so that you can discuss your plans with our expert reservations team. (Please note that some calls may be recorded for training and quality control purposes.) When you are making a booking, please have the following to hand:

  • full passport names and dates of birth of all party members
  • addresses of all party members
  • contact details of a friend or relative in the UK who we can call in the case of an emergency while you are on holiday
  • payment details
  • name of your insurer, policy number and medical emergency helpline if you are arranging your own insurance
  • make, model, registration number, height and length (including anything to be carried on top or at the rear) of your vehicle if you are travelling self-drive

However you book, we require a deposit of £80 per person to confirm the reservation (or full payment if you are booking within 8 weeks of departure), along with your insurance premiums (if required). It is assumed that you have accepted our Booking Conditions.

Once we have made the requested reservations, we will send you a Booking Confirmation and Invoice. We ask that you pay the balance 8 weeks before departure, and will normally send your documentation 2-3 weeks in advance of your break. We will refund your deposit in full if we are unable to arrange the holiday requested or offer an acceptable alternative.

You can choose to pay by a variety of methods: bank or building society cheque (made payable to Inntravel Ltd), online transfer direct into Inntravel's bank account (details are available on request), debit card (Visa Debit or Maestro) or credit card (MasterCard or Visa). We are currently unable to accept American Express cards. Because we are charged for credit card payments, we levy a credit card fee of 1.25% of the holiday price if you choose to pay by MasterCard or Visa. We do not levy charges for any other type of payment.

We are usually able to make last-minute bookings within just 24-48 hours, subject to availability. We may have to make an extra charge for such bookings, which might require secure ticket delivery. We recommend that you book as early as possible to get the break you want.

Insurance, health & passports

British citizens must have a full British passport to visit the countries featured in our Short Breaks programme, but no visas are required. If your passport is about to expire, please check the requirements of the country you are visiting – some nations will not allow you entry unless your passport is valid for a further 6 months. Entry requirements may change and you must check the up-to-date position in good time before departure. A full British passport presently takes approximately 4 weeks to obtain (see the United Kingdom Passport Service's website, ips.gov.uk). If you or any member of your party is 16 or over and do not yet have a passport, our recommendation is that you should apply for one at least 6 weeks before your holiday. The UK Passport Service has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and will ask you to attend an interview in order to do this. If you or any member of your party is not a British citizen or holds a non British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies) to or through which you are intending to travel.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office produces up-to-date travel information to help British travellers make informed decisions about travelling abroad. For further information, please visit fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo or telephone 0845 850 2829. Alternatively, contact ABTA's Travel Information Line on 0901 201 5050 (calls charged at 50 pence per minute).

Information on health is given on the Department of Health website dh.gov.uk and in the leaflet T7 (Health Advice for Travellers) available from your local Department of Health office and most Post Offices. You should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) prior to your holiday as this may entitle you to free or reduced cost medical treatment while abroad (this card replaced the now defunct E111). Please note that the EHIC should not be relied on as a substitute for comprehensive travel insurance. You can apply for your EHIC online by visiting dh.gov.uk, or by telephone on 0845 606 2030. Application forms are also available from most Post Offices. Telephone and postal applications can take up to 21 days.

Personal holiday insurance We offer a personal insurance policy specifically tailored for our type of holiday by Voyager Insurance Services Limited, whose cover is among the most comprehensive available. As personal holiday insurance is so important, it is a requirement of our Booking Conditions that you take out adequate cover. We will therefore require you to take out our policy and pay the appropriate premium at the time of booking unless you provide us with details of equivalent cover you have already arranged. It is your responsibility to ensure that your policy offers adequate cover which is at least as comprehensive as the cover we offer. We do not check alternative policies. We cannot be held liable for any costs which arise that would otherwise have been met had you taken our insurance.

Other information

We provide a documentation pack that includes local maps, directions to your hotel and cultural information on the region. As your documentation pack is necessarily quite large to incorporate this information, we charge customers living outside Britain (including those in the Republic of Ireland) £20 per pack to cover the additional postage costs.

You can start your break on any day unless otherwise stated.

The bedrooms we include in our arrangements all have a bath or shower and WC. Whether you are allocated a room with a bath or shower will depend on availability; if you are staying at a hotel for 3 nights or more, we can request, but not guarantee, a room with a bath rather than a shower or vice versa. In some cases, a supplement is payable for rooms with a bath, as stated in the price panel where applicable. Please state when booking whether you would prefer a room with twin or double beds.

Ferry and Eurotunnel reservations are made for fixed time departures; please arrive in plenty of time to check in. On-board accommodation is obligatory on all night sailings and must be reserved in advance. Statutory legislation obliges all cross-Channel operators to hold the names, ages and gender of all passengers and whether any special assistance is required on board. Please provide these details at the time of booking to prevent hold-ups at port. There is a maximum overall height for cars (including roof loads) of 3 metres and a maximum length of 6 metres. Charges may apply to cars over 1.5 metres high (including roof loads) or over 5 metres in length, according to each operator’s normal conditions of carriage. Please inform us of the length and height of your car at the time of booking, and let us know if cycles are to be carried on the rear of the car. Please note that Eurotunnel are unable to carry LPG/dual powered cars. On routes such as Dover to Calais with P&O Ferries you can pay a small additional charge in advance to benefit from priority boarding and disembarkation as well as access to special lounges while on board. Please contact us for details.

The time in France and Belgium is one hour ahead of British time.

Outdoor swimming pools are typically only available from May to September, though this depends very much on local weather conditions. In addition, pools may be closed periodically for maintenance.
