About Inntravel

Established in 1984 and based in rural North Yorkshire, Inntravel is one of the leading specialist tour operators in Britain. We are recognised as innovators in our field, and have won many awards for our brochures and level of service - most recently, Inntravel was voted Best Short Breaks Company in the Guardian & Observer Travel Awards 2007 for the fifth year in a row. We offer a wide range of holidays to suit all tastes, from independent (self-guided) walking and cycling holidays to journeys by coastal steamer into the Arctic Circle. Whatever you choose, you will stay at charming, family-run hotels offering a warm welcome and delicious regional cuisine.

Complete Peace of Mind

Inntravel is bonded with the Civil Aviation Authority for holidays by air (ATOL number 2644) and the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA membership number W780X) for all other holidays, guaranteeing complete financial security.

Committed to the Environment

As a member of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), Inntravel prides itself on the quality of its holidays, the level of flexibility offered and the high standards of its customer service; we are also committed to the values of responsible and sustainable tourism, and fully support the AITO guidelines on responsible tourism. Indeed, we are one of very few travel companies to be awarded 3-star responsible tourism status by AITO. We are delighted to join forces with The National Trust on this special programme of active holidays, from which a financial contribution is made from every booking to help The National Trust with vital work to protect our heritage.

An estimated 100 million visits are made each year to the coast and countryside in the care of The National Trust. From Lake District fells to Cornish beaches, from the Loughs of Fermanagh around Enniskillen to the beech woods of the Chilterns, there are masses of opportunities to explore, discover and delight in the huge diversity of the British landscape.

Caring for and conserving these special places ‘for ever, for everyone’ is in the hands of teams of dedicated staff and volunteers. Providing access to them, as well as to countless archaeological monuments, Neolithic barrows and Second World War military sites is a crucial part of the Trust’s work and Inntravel are pleased to be helping fund this with your help.

For every booking made through this brochure, Inntravel will make a contribution to support two keys projects in 2008:

The Farne Islands are one of the best places in Europe to see breeding sea birds, puffins and terns, almost within travelling any great distance. These Northumberland islands are visited by 50,000 people each year and the Trust now needs £15000 to provide new access to the lighthouse on Inner Farne and to improve the facilities and information available to visitors.

The Lake District fells are more popular than ever with walkers. The work on tackling erosion has been going on for over 25 years and the impact of the boot, especially in the most popular part of the National Park, receives constant attention. Now the Trust is playing a crucial part in "Fix the Fells", a partnership with the National Park Authority and Natural England. Many footpaths, such as the one from Esk Hause to Angle Tarn, have been walked by millions and hold treasured memories and just £13,800 will help to repair and prevent further damage to this wonderful route. Many other footpaths and bridleways, such as the path up Raise Beck, can benefit from Inntravel’s financial support.
