Why not take the train?

You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.

Lively Engelberg lies in a high valley in the mountains above Lake Lucerne, with inspiring views of the magnificent 3,000-metre mountains that encircle it. This is William Tell country and consequently boasts a rich history and a strong traditional flavour.

I was quite simply overwhelmed by the friendliness of the Hotel Edelweiss. The Kuhns are terrifically accommodating, making it a place where we, my two children included, felt completely at ease.

Favoured by the Swiss themselves for downhill skiing, Engelberg offers excellent pistes – and delightful cross-country trails too – but what really makes the place is its refreshingly laid-back atmosphere – this is still very much the quiet side of alpine skiing. Fittingly, the 3-star Edelweiss is every bit as relaxed as the village. Indeed, this is one of the friendliest hotels in our selection, where English-speaking owners Peter and Susanne Kuhn extend a genuine welcome to you and cater very well for families with children of all ages.
