Why not take the train?

You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.

Close to the Italian border, the undiscovered Val d’Anniviers, one of Switzerland’s sunniest regions, is quite magnificent and is dotted with pretty hamlets which perch on its steep slopes. One such village is tranquil St-Luc, which looks across the valley to the mighty 4,478-metre Matterhorn and other peaks over 4,000 metres high. Offering easy access to marvellous downhill skiing on uncrowded slopes, this is an ideal base for alpine skiers of all abilities.

Would I go back? Yes, definitely – in the words of my sister, it’s the loveliest place in the world (and the skiing is great, too!).
