It felt like Inntravel knew this place and had chosen it for what it represents - peaceful 'slow' holiday in a more remote and beautiful place. I really dislike the 'ski world', but this was so much more my kind of thing and I felt like Inntravel understood the kind of traveller I am. I cannot praise the food highly enough at the hotel - it was great!

The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly - working hard to make our stay enjoyable.

The cross-country skiing around Gålå was excellent during our stay. There was lots of snow with very well maintained trails and generally good ski conditions although it was rather cold, down to -20 at the start of the week. Fortunately there wasn’t too much wind at any time. The trails are very varied and it is good to be able to ski directly from the hotel, although the trail up from the downhill ski area is a bit confusing. We especially enjoyed the loipe around the lake and over to Fefor.

We have been cross-country skiing for 11 years and Gålå is the best centre we have been to. Absolutely excellent trails and hotel.

Putting the cross into skiing
"A two-and-a-half-hour train ride north of Oslo, past the giant ski jump at Lillehammer, 950m above sea level, lies Gålå, a hamlet nestled in a wooded valley overlooking a frozen lake to the mountains beyond. The snow is luxuriantly deep; the air smells of balsam."
