If you are flying via
Genova

Pisa
, add on a city break for a contrast to your walking holiday. Alternatively, the
9-night version
of this holiday offers a wonderful sense of completion, finishing in the handsome fishing port of Camogli.
self-guided hotel-to-hotel walking, luggage transported
spectacular high paths in the Cinque Terre
beautiful coastline
delicious seafood
With warm, wooded mountains tumbling steeply down to little bays and sandy coves where fishing ports and small resorts of pastel-coloured houses nestle by the water's edge, the Ligurian Riviera, which stretches from the border with France down to Tuscany, is one of the natural wonders of Italy. Here, you can savour delicious fish and seafood, pesto and unusual white wines such as Sciacchetrà.
The Path of the Cinque Terre is famously beautiful, but we recommend exploring the quiet, little-used paths high above the coast instead to discover the ‘real’ Cinque Terre.
Offering endlessly changing scenery and some of Europe’s finest coastal walking, this delightful holiday explores the famed Cinque Terre (the 'Five Lands'), with superb, highly recommended optional routes along the higher paths to see the authentic Cinque Terre, and options to shorten the walks using trains and boats (pay locally). The area's few hotels and well-merited popularity among walkers make it strongly advisable to book early or to travel in spring or autumn, when the paths are quieter.
