walk from Italy into Slovenia
breathtaking views of the Julian Alps
explore the beautiful lakes of Bled and Bohinj
two unspoiled regions
welcoming hotels & excellent cuisine
Walking into Slovenia from Italy across the panoramic peak of Matajur has a special magic, and is just one of the many highlights of this holiday. You discover two regions that are very much unspoiled yet full of interest. First you explore Friuli, in Italy, which produces renowned white wines that are among the country's finest and where rolling vineyards rise up to the peaks that border Slovenia. Then your walk takes you into the beautiful Soča Valley in Slovenia's Mediterranean-influenced Primorska region where wonderful footpaths link traditional villages and lead you up into high, vivid green Alpine pastures, all against the backdrop of the mighty Julian Alps.
Though the landscapes are awe-inspiring, our walks are relaxed and accessible to all of average fitness, with some delightful routes linking old villages where you will see traditional hayracks and colourful beehives and a pace of life that has hardly changed for centuries. You stay in comfortable hotels and, for a very special end to your holiday, have the option of upgrading to the impressive 4-star Vila Bled. Once the summer residence of President Tito, it enjoys a unique location on the shores of the lake close to Bled Island.
