Morocco is a rich tapestry of colours. In Marrakesh, these range from the brilliant green, blue and white tiles of the mosques to the earthy ochre of the ramparts, and from the rich reds of the rugs to the deep pinks of the flowers in the gardens. Marrakesh assaults the senses; it's a joyous, bustling city where friendly, respectful people go noisily about their business. It's like nowhere you know and yet you will be drawn into its hectic ways and intriguing corners, mesmerised by all around you.
Suddenly, the desert ended in a sky full of rock. This was not that mouse-coloured European stuff, but fiery African ore.
The Telegraph
In complete contrast, the mountains and deserts of Morocco are tranquil and calm, places for relaxed exploration and quiet contemplation. Discover the High Atlas Mountains, their brown slopes contrasting with both the snow on the lofty peaks and the green valleys far below, while in the desert the amazing quality of the light makes the dunes change from orange, to gold, to yellow... Even the food is colourful, featuring courgettes, aubergines and red peppers.
Brought to life by the guides who accompany you, this holiday of a lifetime immerses you in the very best of this remarkable country, from the vibrancy of one of North Africa's most appealing cities and the humbling experience of a stay in a traditional Berber village, to a camel ride across the ochre dunes of the sub-Sahara and a night under the desert sky.
Extend your stay
For a complete contrast and some fresh sea air, add three nights in Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast. With its ancient walls and archways, sheltered bay and bustling harbour, it’s a delightful place to relax, to explore the winding cobbled streets of the medina, or to stroll along the seafront and sample delicious fresh fish dishes at open-air restaurants after watching the fishermen bring in their catch. Stay at one of our carefully selected riads, stylish hotels reflecting both the atmosphere and charm of this lovely city and offering first-class hospitality.
