The great port of Genova is the perfect place to experience a true flavour of the delightful Ligurian Riviera that stretches all the way from France down into Tuscany. As an important Renaissance city state, many great artists were attracted here and their legacy in its palaces, cathedral and squares meant that Genova was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2006. It is also an area of delicious seafood, pesto and unusual white wines such as Sciacchetrà .
Genova's hidden gems soon come to light as you wander down it historic streets, squares and promenades.
Offering endlessly changing scenery and some of Europe’s finest coastal walking, this delightful short break explores the unspoiled Portofino Peninsula, where warm, wooded mountains tumble steeply down to the Mediterranean, and fishing ports nestle in the little bays and sandy coves. From the heights of Monte Portofino, there are extensive views over the azure waters of the Gulf of Tugillio and down to the pretty villages of Portofino and Camogli.
