In the heart of Austria’s Leoganger Steinberge Alps lies the picturesque Zeller See, a glittering lake hemmed in by mighty snow-capped peaks. This is wonderful walking country with some spectacular views across forested mountain slopes, crystal clear lakes and south to the mighty Grossglockner (the highest mountain in Austria) in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Pretty villages, traditional hotels and wonderful local delicacies complement the splendour of the landscape.
The fantastic views from the top of the Kitzsteinhorn over the glacier and towards the majestic peak of the Grossglockner are not to be missed.
The quiet mountain villages of Leogang, Hinterglemm and Kaprun, and the mountain ridges that shelter them, exemplify all that is glorious about walking in the High Alps of Salzburgerland. This satisfying route follows well-waymarked paths and, with the included guest cards at both Hinterglemm and Kaprun, you can take advantage of the gondolas and cable cars to access our walks, rewarding you with far-reaching views over the surrounding peaks.
