• country hotels just across the Channel offering excellent regional cuisine for special weekends away
• city breaks by train or ferry featuring well located hotels of character
• friendly hoteliers who extend a special welcome to Inntravel guests
• complete freedom to explore as you wish
It’s amazing what little distance you have to cover from the ports before you feel as though you are in the heart of France, and our hand-picked country and city hotels just across the Channel are ideal for a quick getaway. As we have worked with most hotels for many years (Inntravel’s short breaks programme is as old as the company itself, as both were launched in 1984), we enjoy a strong relationship with the hoteliers, who reserve a very warm welcome and particularly attentive service for Inntravel guests.
Special weekend getaways just across the Channel
Small, family-run hotels are a great French tradition. With so many years’ experience, we know exactly what to look for – lots of character, comfortable bedrooms, an attractive setting with plenty of interest in the local vicinity and, above all, a welcoming atmosphere and excellent cuisine. Indeed, these breaks have been chosen with special occasions in mind (be it a birthday, wedding anniversary or retirement) and to this end we include our favourite bedrooms and at least one gastronomic meal, as stated in the holiday description. For added indulgence, we also include one bottle of champagne per party on arrival. Cakes, chocolates and/or flowers can also be arranged (see the price panel for prices).
City breaks by train or ferry to Lille, Paris & Bruges
If you prefer a city break, you can head to Lille, Paris or Bruges. Again, we offer intimate, family-run hotels full of character, all centrally located so that you are close to the main sights. As there are so many restaurants to choose from, we include only breakfast in our arrangements. (The exception is the Hotel Prinsenhof in Bruges, which is classed as a special getaway and therefore includes one gastronomic dinner at a centrally located restaurant, as stated in the holiday description.)
To help you get the most out of your holiday, we provide detailed customer documentation. Along with cultural information and directions to the hotel, it offers suggestions as to what to see and where to explore, from markets to museums and memorials to fallen soldiers, and from producers of local specialities to peaceful formal gardens. Where relevant, we also provide details of our specially devised driving tours taking in various places of interest, as well as restaurant recommendations if your stay is on a bed-and-breakfast basis. To accompany your documentation, we also provide a driving map for self-drive breaks, and a city plan for city breaks.
With every aspect of your holiday covered, we hope that you will enjoy a relaxed and carefree break. Things rarely go wrong, but for peace of mind we provide a 24-hour emergency helpline.
The right break for you
With various considerations to bear in mind when choosing the hotel for your special weekend, we will be happy to offer advice so that you can select the one that is right for you. We can also help you tailor the arrangements for your chosen holiday to suit you. You can choose to take your car across the Channel using P&O, Eurotunnel or Brittany Ferries; travel by standard or first class on city breaks by train; upgrade to a superior room in your hotel where available; and vary the length of the holiday. The maximum stay is limited to 4 nights (otherwise a different price is applicable), and the extra night price includes the ‘standard’ meal arrangements, as stated in the price panel (ie if the break includes the standard menu on one night and an upgraded menu on the other night, then the extra night price is based on the standard menu and, similarly, if the break is on a bed-and-breakfast basis with a meal at a restaurant included on one night, then the extra night price includes breakfast only).
