Why not take the train?
You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.
You may even break your journey in Paris if you are travelling via the capital. Sit back and enjoy a truly great rail journey! Look for the ‘by rail’ prices in the Prices & Travel section, where you will also find journey details.
self-guided hotel-to-hotel cycling, luggage transported
start and finish in delightful Albi
meander along riverside lanes
stay in authentic, welcoming country inns
With its sleepy villages, meandering river and rolling hills, the Mediterranean landscapes of the Tarn are ideal for exploration on two wheels. Setting out from Toulouse-Lautrec's Albi, you head east into increasingly rugged scenery, leaving the vineyards and wooded slopes to discover warm hills of cork oaks and cypress trees.
You cycle through vineyards and wooded slopes, passing cork oaks and cypress trees, and stay in welcoming country inns offering the full flavours of the south-west.
You explore both banks of the river on quiet lanes, with many riverside stretches, and plenty of time to explore. Here, you stay in welcoming country inns offering the full flavours of the South-West: duck, cassoulet and fresh trout and perch from the rivers. The region’s wines are gaining a deserved reputation too - the flinty Gaillac whites are especially refreshing after cycling on the quiet lanes.
