The ancient kingdom of Castile-Leon lies on Spain’s vast central plain, bordered to the south by the impressive Sierra de Guadarrama, where peaks soar to over 2000 metres. This region has been at the heart of Spanish history for centuries and our new holiday here takes you through a landscape that reveals a whole number of well kept secrets, including picture-book turreted castles, fascinating fortified medieval towns - and intriguing Roman structures of staggering proportions.
The Duratón Canyon is a yawning gash with a ribbon of green water at the bottom and a crumbling monastery clinging to the cliff face. It’s staggeringly beautiful.

The Independent
Your discovery of this fascinating region on two wheels takes you between two historic cities. From Segovia you head north following quiet country lanes and farm tracks through gently-rolling landscapes and unspoiled villages. Take time to enjoy a hearty lunch of Castilian lamb or roasted suckling pig en route, complemented by one of the region’s many fine wines. Delight in your discovery of castles, romantic churches and isolated viewpoints before arriving in Sepúlveda, a remarkable town that seemingly teeters on the edge of a cliff.
