The south-west corner of Sardinia is an oft-neglected area of this Mediterranean island that even many Italians do not know about. Largely unaffected by commercial interests, the local people quietly carry on their traditional pursuits and ways of life, much as they have done for generations. Nowhere sums this up more perfectly than the picturesque island of San Pietro (known as Caloforte), where bakeries, fishmongers and cake shops line the narrow cobbled streets, selling local delicacies straight from the oven.
Cruise along the dramatic southern tip of Sardinia starting at the idyllic islands of San Pietro and Sant’Antioco. See pink flamingos wading in salt ponds and gaze at the lighthouse that stands on the towering cliffs at Capo Sandalc.
