Why not take the train?
You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.
You may even break your journey in Paris if you are travelling via the capital. Sit back and enjoy a truly great rail journey! Look for the ‘by rail’ prices in the Prices & Travel section, where you will also find journey details.

historic route along quiet rural lanes
add a stay in vibrant Amsterdam
The green heart of Holland is dominated by a series of mighty rivers flowing slowly towards the sea. At the confluence of the Lower Rhine and the Ijssel stands historic Arnhem, famous for its Second World War connections, but also renowned for its green open spaces. With the wide river valley to the south and the Hoge Veluwe National Park in the low hills to the north, this area is perfect for leisurely exploration and discovery.
The Hoge Veluwe National Park is surprisingly wild, its varied landscapes home to red deer, mouflon and reclusive wild boar.
This varied route starts by exploring the beautiful, and surprisingly wild, national park, then follows quiet rural lanes past castles, royal palaces and manor houses and through typical Dutch villages and towns before a superb final day’s circuit from the pretty town of Oudewater to Gouda, with its cobbled marketplace and striking town hall.
