With National Parks to the north-east and west, the deeply traditional Gudbrandsdalen Valley lies amid some of the most magnificent mountain scenery that Norway has to offer. So lyrically described by Henrik Ibsen in his epic poem about his legendary hero, Peer Gynt, these mountains are home to the high-quality Highland Cabins, which occupy an elevated spot with breathtaking views across a lake towards the Jotunheimen Mountains.
There's something about Norway that makes you want to embrace an extreme programme of healthy living. And our holiday duly promised a dawn-till-dusk activity programme of walking, fishing, cycling and even a moose safari.
Clover Stroud, The Observer
With great walking and mountain-biking nearby, as well as numerous other activities – some of them quite unusual – organised by the local centre, the cabins make the ideal base for a holiday enjoying the great outdoors. Indeed, this wide range of outdoor activities make them perfect for families until the middle of August, after which the vivid colours of autumn begin to slowly spread across the landscape, bringing an air of tranquillity which now offers a more peaceful atmosphere for couples looking for a relaxing break up until the end of the season.
