traditional stone house on the Istrian Peninsula
idyllic rural setting surrounded by meadows
ideal for coast and mountain walking, route notes provided
medieval castles and fortified towns to visit
7 days' car hire included
Influenced by many civilisations over the centuries, the culture and heritage of the Istrian Peninsula is as varied and fascinating as the landscape and the people themselves. Romans, Byzantines, Venetians and Austro-Hungarians have all left their mark on this land and created a people proud of its heritage and traditions. Its location in the northern Adriatic Sea means that it is but a short drive north into Slovenia and even to Italy whose influence is very visible today – especially in the food.
For me, the great attraction of this homely apartment is the location – you’re surrounded by meadows, yet wonderful Brtonigla is within strolling distance and you’re well placed for exploring the entire Istrian Peninsula.
Kay D’Souza, Regional Manager for Croatia
With miles of coastline and a scenic interior, this richly diverse region invites exploration on foot or by car, and you can do just that with your included hire car. Surrounded by meadows, Irena’s House makes a charming base from which to discover medieval castles, fortified hill-top towns and the picturesque Skarline Natural Park.
