Our journeys in India are memorable experiences. Head to the country’s intoxicating south and you will discover the dense vegetation and peaceful spice villages of Karnataka, as well as the labyrinthine backwaters of Kerala, arguably the jewel in the crown of southern India. Adding to the sense of discovery is the fact that you are hosted by local villagers: on this holiday – part of the Village Ways project – you stay in a community-owned ‘spice house’ and a specially built houseboat which moors in a different village each night.
There are local insights aplenty on our other Indian journey, too, which combines Jodhpur, Jaipur and the Thar Desert and has been designed as an add-on to our walking holidays in the foothills of the Himalayas. Though it is hard to give just one highlight, memories of the time spent among the Rajput community in the vast Thar Desert will remain with you for years.
