Inntravel Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q: You talk about offering great flexibility. In which areas does this apply?

A: Because we only offer holidays for individuals, not groups, we can handle each booking individually, thus allowing you to adapt your itinerary so that it’s just right for you. With the exception of self-drive short breaks, which are limited to four nights, you are free to make your holiday as long as you wish by adding extra nights at any hotel (whether it is a hotel at the start, middle or end of the itinerary) or combining your main holiday with a city break, for example. Another option is to combine holidays, perhaps two walking holidays or a walking holiday and a week's stay in a self-catering property. On many holidays, you can upgrade to a superior room at some hotels, be it one with a better view, a balcony or simply more space. On the majority of holidays (with the exception of most skiing and self-catering holidays), you can start any day you like – you’re not restricted to certain dates. Finally, we also offer a wide choice of travel options. You can fly, take your car across the Channel, or travel by rail. Whatever your chosen method of travel, you can choose to book the travel through us or independently.

Q: Can we combine an Inntravel holiday with a few days at our friends’ house?

A: Yes – our arrangements are very flexible. The time at your friends’ house need not necessarily be before or after your Inntravel holiday – if you are taking a touring holiday for example, you could visit one or two Inntravel hotels, stay with your friends and then tour round some more hotels. We are happy to book car hire for the non-Inntravel element of your holiday, if required. The only restrictions on combining an Inntravel holiday with your own arrangements apply to short breaks, which are limited to a maximum of four nights. A supplement is payable on short breaks which exceed this limit. Provided you take it out for the entire period you are away, our personal holiday insurance covers you for all elements of your holiday, not just those booked through Inntravel.

Q: We like many of the ideas in your brochure but can’t find exactly what we are looking for.

A: We are happy to tailor-make a holiday for you. If it is a case that the walking, cycling or touring itinerary is too long, then we can usually cut nights out, and we will be happy to advise you on which nights you are least likely to regret missing out on! If, on the other hand, our itinerary is too short, you can combine it with another Inntravel holiday, with a stay at a friend’s house, or accommodation that you book yourself. For touring holidays, if we do not offer accommodation in an area that you particularly want to visit, you can book a hotel there independently. Occasionally customers enquire about walking holidays that they would like to do but that have a couple of long days that they are not sure they could cope with. In such cases, we can often arrange taxi transfers for you to shorten the distances. Generally, if you want to modify one of our holidays but are not sure if it will work, please feel free to call us and discuss it with one of our reservations team. There is normally at least one person in the office who has done the holiday and knows the area well, so we will be able to advise you on the feasibility of your plans and how to make the best of your holiday.

Q: What are the advantages of booking our flights and connecting travel through Inntravel?

A: By booking all your travel arrangements, including your flights, through Inntravel, you enjoy the convenience of booking all elements of your holiday with one company. You can also rest assured that Inntravel will accept liability for your travel arrangements as set out in our Booking Conditions (for example we will offer you a range of options in the event of a significant pre-departure change to your travel arrangements) and the monies you have paid will be protected by the financial security arrangements we have in place (subject to only a few limited exceptions).
If you do decide to make your travel arrangements independently, you should not book your flights until we have confirmed your accommodation arrangements to you, and you should also heed the latest flight arrival and earliest flight departure times, as you may find arranging connecting travel impossible outside these times. You should bear in mind that we will not be able to assist or cover additional costs if, for example, your travel arrangements are disrupted or if, for any reason, you are unable to meet your pre-booked rail or taxi services, or if we are forced for reasons beyond our control to make a significant change or cancel your confirmed holiday. You should ensure that you have adequate insurance cover in the event of scheduled airline failure or travel disruption. Our financial security arrangements will not protect monies you have paid for any flights or other travel arrangements not booked through us.

Q: If we are booking our travel through Inntravel, can we use a different airport/port on the return journey to the one we used on the outward journey?

A: In most cases, yes, provided that you travel with the same airline or ferry operator on both journeys. For greater flexibility, it is worth considering asking us to book no-frills airlines, most of which allow single trips.

Q: How can we pay for our holiday?

A: You can pay by bank or building society cheque (made payable to Inntravel Ltd), online transfer direct into Inntravel’s bank account (details are available on request), debit card (Visa Debit or Maestro) or credit card (MasterCard or Visa). We are currently unable to accept American Express cards. Because we are charged for credit card payments, we levy a credit card fee of 1.25% of the holiday price if you choose to pay by MasterCard or Visa. We do not levy charges for any other type of payment.
