Spain - The Canary Islands
Widely considered the most dramatic of the Canary Islands, La Palma is surprisingly varied, the lush north contrasting with the south's stark volcanic landscapes. Such variety is shared by Gran Canaria, where you could seemingly discover a different landscape each day for a week. On La Gomera, deep ravines, ancient tropical forests and groves of palm trees lend a special enchantment to this pretty island, while Tenerife is dominated by the seemingly omnipresent El Teide, Spain's highest peak. All four islands are paradises for walkers.
