Greece - Little-Known Islands

Lesvos

With its two large gulfs that reach in towards the centre, Lesvos resembles a jigsaw piece, each quarter different in character, from the petrified forest in the west to workaday Mytilini in the east, and from the bird watcher's paradise of Skala Kallonia in the centre to the picturesque fortified town of Molyvos in the north.

Cephalonia & Ithaca

Samos

Just a few miles at its eastern shoreline from the Turkish mainland, Samos is one of Greece's greenest and most alluring islands. Vineyards step up into verdant woodland, giving way to rugged summits in the island's core. Along the coast, explore fishing ports and small resorts with attractive beaches. For such a small island, the landscapes are extraordinarily rich and varied.

Dodecanese Islands

The twelve major islands of the Dodecanese archipelago lie in the idyllic azure waters of the southern Aegean Sea where the hot summer sun shines down on communities of surprisingly different character. This is certainly true of our three chosen neighbouring islands - Kalimnos, Leros and Patmos - which all have their very own distinct character and attraction. Lying on the very edge of Europe, the Dodecanese have long been subject to invaders and settlers, all of whom have left their mark, evident as you walk through three very distinct landscapes where history has shaped the lives of the people and the very character of the land.
