Menorca
The least developed of the Balearic Islands, Menorca’s rural interior
of red sandstone mountains, green rolling hills and wooded gorges
gradually gives way to rocky coves, sandy beaches and fishing villages
that line the coastline between the larger towns, Mahón and Ciutadella, at
opposite ends of the island. The landscape is dotted with vast numbers of megalithic
Talayotic structures, medieval palaces and historic churches, making Menorca a
fascinating place to explore by bike.
> Cliffs, Coves & Seafood (grade 1-2) Gentle cycling from the very heart of the island to secret coves and quite villages.
Mallorca
Quiet lanes wind their way through the patchwork patterns of ancient farms, linking
agricultural villages that reveal Mallorca’s genuine face. This is a side of the island that,
thankfully, few tourists experience, and cycling here is a true delight, especially when
combined with our selection of enchanting agroturismos and turismos rurales – small,
intimate country houses offering a family welcome and the freshest of local produce, and
much appreciated by our customers.
> Southern Beaches to Central Plain (grade 1-2) Gentle discovery of unspoiled Mallorca, exploring both the coast and the inland plain.
> From the Plain to the 'Wild Coast' (grade 2) Rewarding cycling through the richly varied landscapes of the north-east part of the island.
> 10-night Discovery (grade 2) A thrilling holiday combining our popular shorter routes across this alluring island.
Catalonia & Aragón
These vibrant, varied regions offer so much in terms of scenery – the unspoiled
side of the Costa Brava, volcanic hills dotted with Romanesque churches, ancient inland villages, pine-clad hills, rolling vineyards, the rugged Ports Mountains and the lagoons and wetlands of the Ebro Delta. Fiercely
proud of their distinctive cultures, languages, food and wine, the Catalans and Aragonese offer a warm
welcome as you discover some of the area’s hidden gems, while staying in a selection
of high-quality hotels offering wonderful food and wine. Fresh fish and seafood,
creative cuisine, sparkling cava, robust reds ... travelling here is always a delight.
> Timeless Southern Catalonia (grade 1-2) Beginning and ending with stays at two glorious paradors, this leisurely route traces a remarkable sequence of little-visited landscapes in both Catalonia and Aragón.
> A Meander along the Ebro (grade 1-2) Gentle discovery of two very distinct landscapes of southern Catalonia: the orange and almond groves behind the coast, and the wetlands of the Ebro Delta.
> Heart of Catalonia (grade 1-2) This relaxed route takes in high-quality hotels, pretty villages and wonderfully varied scenery.
> Catalan Coast & Villages (grade 1-2) An unbeatable combination of leisurely cycling, idyllic villages and hotels of character.
> Lakes & Volcanoes of the Garrotxa (grade 2) Discover the volcanic hills of the Garrotxa, one of Catalonia's least-known corners, finishing in the city of Girona, another hidden gem.
La Rioja
The velvety wines of La Rioja compete with the best in the world. In the broad Ebro
Valley, sheltered by the rugged Sierra de Cantabria to the north, the vines, stretching
as far as the eye can see, thrive in the warm Mediterranean-like climate. Pretty
villages, the golden sandstone of their houses glowing in the sunlight, hide among
the vineyards, combining with the greens and reds of the vines to create a tapestry
of rich colours. Further south, the landscape changes, giving way to a patchwork of
golden wheat fields and majestic monasteries.
> Rolling Hills & Vineyards (grade 2) A rewarding route which reveals timeless villages, rugged scenery and La Rioja's renowned cuisine and wine.
Asturias
Green and unspoiled, Asturias is dominated by the magnificent mountain range of the Picos de Europa, just a few miles inland from the Atlantic coast of quiet beaches, sweeping bays and fishing ports. Complementing the glorious scenery are authentic casonas – characterful village houses offering traditional cooking and a typically warm Asturian welcome in spectacular surroundings.
> Cliffs & Secret Coves of Asturias (grade 2-3) Wonderful coastal scenery and a magnificent mountain backdrop as you discover secret coves and pretty villages.
Andalucia
Andalucia, Spain’s dazzling ‘deep south’, is one of Europe’s most entrancing regions. Brilliant pueblos blancos (white towns) dot a landscape of rugged mountains. The area is ideal for exploring by bike, with quiet mountain roads contouring the hills, inviting vías verdes (disused railways) that take you through the heart of the mountains, and winding country lanes that offer incredible views as well as the opportunity to spot griffon vultures gliding through the skies.
> Villages of the Sierra (grade 2) A fascinating route that skirts the rugged Grazalema Sierra, starting and finishing in famous Ronda, and taking in another seven atmospheric pueblos blancos.
