Self-guided walking holidays in CanadaImagine slowly walking to the window to draw back the curtains in your hotel room one morning – and there in the garden is a large black bear! Well, this is exactly what happened to guests at the Auberge du Jardin in Petit Saguenay in Québec recently. The young bear had taken up residency in the garden for the autumn, quite wisely realising that the fruit-filled trees in the orchard would supply his (or her) needs for several weeks. As you wander along the picturesque coast of Brittany on a walking holiday in France, you can’t help but notice a group of low, round-backed islands, once likened to a serene pod of whales, standing out at sea. These are Les Sept-Îles, the Seven Islands, which became the focus of the campaign to protect birds in France after the near-extinction of puffins in the early 20th century... Read the full post

Midnight Sun Lofoten Islands, NorwayGuess what time of day this picture was taken? It's broad daylight and the sun is streaming across the crags. A small convoy of campervans has come to witness one of nature's spectacles, in this instance on the Lofoten Islands of northern Norway, way above the Arctic Circle. (A similar phenomenon occurs in the southern hemisphere, too, but Inntravel don't go there - yet.)
