Yorkshire is great place to live and work, and I don’t just say that because I was brought up here and now live just south of York. As the largest county in England it contains unrivalled and very distinct landscapes of unequalled beauty; it has a proud history, placing it firmly at the centre of English political and cultural life; and today it boasts a rich tradition of sporting prowess which last year saw Yorkshire win more medals at the Olympic Games than most countries. Winter snow breaks in EuropeI came across the first snows of winter last weekend while walking over the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire. Looking towards the Yorkshire Dales, I noticed that there was even more snow on the Whernside and Ingleborough. It was little more than a dusting where I was, but it did make me start to wonder what it’s going to be like in the mountains of the Alps or Scandinavia this winter? Need some inspiration?
