Welcome return at the Star

In September, the UK’s restaurateurs eagerly – and maybe nervously – awaited the publication of the latest Michelin Guide for 2015. Not least among them was Andrew Pern of The Star Inn at Harome which features in our latest walking break in the UK, A Yorkshire Gastronomic Celebration.

Lo and behold! The Star Inn was in there, having deservedly regained the Michelin star it held from 2002-2011.

It’s not that anything much has changed over the last couple of years – the culinary prowess of the kitchen has never been in doubt – it’s just that now it has been officially recognised once more by the Michelin guide.

So, after enjoying a leisurely walk through the glorious Yorkshire countryside from Rievaulx Abbey to Harome via the market town of Helmsley, our customers can take their seats for dinner at The Star, content in the knowledge that the chef has earned the ultimate accolade, and raise a glass to Andrew and his hard-working team.

This year’s Michelin guide for 2015 includes several new restaurants which are proud recipients of a Michelin star. “The 14 new stars in our 2015 guide [including The Star] highlight the enormous richness and variety of the UK’s restaurant scene”, said Rebecca Burr, editor of the Michelin Guide. “They range from country pubs to hipster hangouts, from counter-restaurants to classic dining rooms – the public’s knowledge and interest in food gets greater every year.”
