Slow down, relax ... and sketch

Following my most recent post which features the wonderfully evocative drawings of Andalucía by David Grech, I have posted some more of his sketches here – they are far too good not to share with you. David kindly sent us a sample from each of his holiday sketch books (at my request) and I selected one from each which you can see below.

Sitting down to sketch allows you time to relax and reflect on where you are; and trying to capture a scene or view on paper makes you really look at a place and see things that you may not normally notice. So next time you're on holiday, if you feel like it, why not find a nice spot to rest, take out a sketchbook and draw? It's wonderfully relaxing and quite discreet – you don't ever have to show anyone your results, if you don't want to; they are for you to keep, your own personal record of a special time or place. (Having said that, we're always delighted to see your impressions of our holiday destinations.)

The seaside town of Cefalú in north-east Sicily:

The town of Jimena de la Frontera, Andalucia; and Tamatert in Morocco's High Atlas Mountains:

The waterfont buildings of Honfleur; and canalside houses in medieval Bruges:

The UNESCO designated fishing port of Nüsfjord in the Lofoten Islands, Norway:

The small town of Soarge in the Alpes Maritimes; and the Breithhorn from Mürren in the Swiss Alps:

The village of Plaisance in the Tarn Valley, France; and delightful Cadaqués on the coast of Catalonia:
