See the Northern Lights tonight!

Norterh LightsAccording to the Met office, a 'Class X' solar flare (the largest type) has just sent three blasts of charged particles towards the Earth over the last few days. The effect will be felt today (Friday 18 February) and should mean that the Northern Lights will be visible from northern areas of the UK. So, if you are lucky enough to live in Scotland keep your eyes peeled tonight and pray for a clear sky!

But if you miss it or can't make it to Sutherland by nightfall, why not take a short break to either Reykjavik in Iceland or Tromsø in Norway on one of our special Northern Lights breaks later in the year? Elusive and unpredictable, this beautiful natural phenomena, when irridescent greens, pinks and yellows flash and soar across the night sky in an incredible display of celestial pyrotechnics, will make for an unforgettable experience. (And if you do see them, we'd love to hear from you and see your photos!)
