Walking holidays in the UK

First the devastating floods, and now snow and ice. I suppose there's no use denying that winter is well and truly here. Such weather conditions make it difficult, to say the least, for people who work on the land and for those who use footpaths on a daily basis as a matter of course. Not to make light of recent problems, but it curtails walking as a leisure activity, too, though for many this is more than just 'leisure' - it's a passion that needs satisfying.

Winter snow breaks in AustriaThinking about a holiday in the mountains this winter - but unsure what the snow conditions are going to be like? Pretty good, if the live webcam from Pertisau is anything to go by. Forecasts are very promising, according to the BBC: "Snow fell across most Austrian resorts on Thursday 29th November, which was perfect timing, as many resorts prepare to open ... the recent snowfall seen across the Alps creating excellent piste conditions..."
