It’s Yorkshire Day!

What better way to celebrate Yorkshire Day than with a look at some spectacular views of this wonderful county as seen through the eyes of local photographers. This week, the Malton Gazette & Herald announced the winner of their recent photography competition. Here, I’ve selected just a few which caught my eye including the winning entry by Martin Tyson who wins a walking holiday in Northumberland, courtesy of Inntravel:

As I said, this is not the shortlist but just my favourites' list. Why not go onto the Gazette & Herald website and see all the entrants to pick your own favourite?

Coincidentally, today is also Swiss National Day (referring to an historic alliance concluded in 1291 by the three cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden) – so here’s a picture of Switzerland, too.
