Mountains & Villages of Mallorca Walk
Since its introduction in autumn 2003, this flexible walking holiday
has proved very popular. It explores the north-west corner of the island,
where the rugged mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana plunge into the
sea, and beautiful villages such as Sóller and Valldemossa are
set amid groves of orange and almond trees.
What our customers say:
We
loved the holiday and would happily do the same one again!
Ms L, Pembrokeshire
The best Inntravel holiday we have had.
Mrs H, Surrey
The holiday certainly lived up to the expectations raised by the brochure.
Because of our late booking we spent four nights at Ca'n Reus. It is an
excellent base for walks and we found it a delightful place to stay
Susan
Guthrie's thoughtful hospitality and enthusiasm for the walks are great
assets. Sa Pedrissa is also a wonderful place to stay and again we received
a most hospitable welcome. The food is of a very high standard. We were
reluctant to leave Sa Pedrissa for our final night in Valldemossa, but
that was before we were welcomed there and were shown our room! After
our stay there, and another delicious meal, we didn't want to leave Mallorca
at all. The walks we did are most enjoyable and the notes very reassuring
in their detail
We have been so pleased to discover that Mallorca
has such delights to offer and that this holiday maintains the high standard
of interesting walking and excellent accommodation that we have enjoyed
on all our previous trips with Inntravel.
Mr and Mrs S, North Yorkshire
We had a wonderful holiday.
Mr and Mrs R, Shropshire
An excellent selection of varied walks with clear and detailed notes.
One of the best walks we have had with Inntravel. However, it was made
for us by having the extra night in Sóller (trip to Palma) and
Valldemossa (visit the monastery before the crowds arrive). Nine nights
is the ideal duration for this trip.
Mr G, Exeter
Sue, of Ca'n Reus, was great and provided the most wonderful breakfasts.
Miss J, Sussex
We really enjoyed our holiday. The hotels were excellent and the walking
was just right - fairly easy but very interesting and scenic.
Mrs W, Midlothian
We
think this was probably the best of our four Inntravel holidays, certainly
in terms of the hotel accommodation. The mountain area of Mallorca is
excellent for walking and your notes were brilliant. Congratulations on
your choice of hotels. They were all really nice and gave a good, intimate
feeling of the area. We think our favourite was Ca's Curial in Sóller,
set in its orange orchard, with the trees 'dripping' ripe oranges. The
proprietor was delightful and made us feel very welcome. Dinners there
were a pleasure. Hotel Valldemossa was indeed quite special and very comfortable,
with a lovely room with a balcony and a warm welcome.
Overall, a great holiday.
Mrs C, Kent
Walks from Sóller to Tuent and to Sa Pedrissa excellent.
Mrs B, North Yorkshire
We would like to thank you for another lovely holiday. The walking
notes were again well presented.
Mr R, Surrey
Walks were excellent, particularly the circular walk above Valldemossa.
Mrs M, London

What we say:
The accommodation: It is the accommodation that really makes this
holiday. The first three places along the route - Ca'n Reus, Ca's Curial
and Sa Pedrissa - are all small agriturismos with just a handful
of rooms (Ca'n Reus has seven, the other two have eight), making for an
intimate atmosphere. Ca'n Reus is the simplest, but is nevertheless very
attractive, with rustic furniture and furnishings and a wonderfully panoramic
terrace, and what it lacks in facilities compared to the other places
is more than compensated by the warm hospitality - and excellent breakfasts!
- of owner Susan Guthrie. As for Ca's Curial, in our opinion it is a very
special place because of its location - it is surrounded by several hectares
of orange and lemon groves, yet is just five minutes' walk from the centre
of delightful Sóller. The house has been beautifully restored and
is full of character. The same can be said of the exquisite Sa Pedrissa,
especially the restaurant with its stone-flagged floor and beamed ceiling,
but what really drew us to the hotel is the view of the Mediterranean,
the best we have ever come across. To finish the holiday at Hotel Valldemossa
in the pretty village of the same name is the icing on the cake. As you
would expect at a 4-star hotel, the attention to detail is superlative,
the bedrooms are elegant and stylish, and the food is outstanding. Like
Ca's Curial and Sa Pedrissa, it boasts an outdoor pool and terrace, and
the views over the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking.
The
walking: This holiday is unique in our selection. Not only does it
offer a choice of walks of varying levels on some days, but because it
features what are widely considered to be the four most beautiful villages
on Mallorca (Fornalutx, Sóller, Deià and Valledemossa) it
also offers the choice of walking or sightseeing. In this way, on your
first day you can choose between a thrilling walk from the panoramic Ofre
pass down through the spectacular Binaraix Gorge or a relaxing stroll
through the pretty streets of Fornalutx. The next day, there is a longer
or a shorter option from Fornalutx to Sóller, the latter giving
you the chance to spend the majority of the day exploring Sóller.
Then, for your day in Sóller, you can choose a walk along the coast,
or a day trip to the capital, Palma, on the nostalgic train through the
mountains. From Sóller, a pleasant route winds through the hills
above the coast, though you needn't walk at all - instead, you could catch
a bus and spend the rest of the day in Deià. Similarly, we give
details of walks for both of the last two days, but you could spend one
or both of them sightseeing - there is certainly plenty to see at Valldemossa
with its splendid monastery and 17th-century pharmacy.
